Role purpose

In the support of the indirect procurement group with emphasis on small capital project, engineering and facilities procurement, prepare and agree procurement strategies and lead the sourcing of significant projects, ensuring a strategic approach and adopting best in class methods to maximize the business contribution. To be the company expert in the market places that they operate. By interfacing regionally and globally across Syngenta identify and implement opportunities to leverage Syngenta equipment and services spend. Capable of operating at a high level and representing Syngenta within supplier organizations, while bringing value as an integral member of Syngenta project and business teams.

Accountabilities:

- Develop and implement project procurement strategies
- Negotiation of commercial agreements including legal contracts as appropriate
- Understand Syngentas requirements and identifying appropriate suppliers
- Understand and perform Strategic Sourcing
- Deliver on cost saving goals
- Develop and promote the use of a structured Supplier Relationship Management approach
- Utilize and promote the use of available procurement and sourcing tools
- Demonstrate highest ethical standards and ensuring company procedures are adopted and followed
- Continually seek, identify and deliver potential opportunities
- Ensure measurement and delivery of Purchasing KPIs aligned with business objectives
- Accountable to maintain current market knowledge and industry trends
- Accountable for the leadership, management and influence of any direct and indirect reports

Knowledge, Skills Experience:

Critical knowledge:
- Bachelors Degree in either Technical or Business
- MBA or CPM desired but not required
- Engineering and construction contracts and project methodologies
- Ethical purchasing policies and procedures; knowledge of relevant business market trends
- Comprehensive knowledge of Purchasing Policies and Procedures
- Minimum of 3 years Strategic Purchasing or relevant experience

Critical experience:
- Experience in a manufacturing/plant/project environment
- Procurement of engineering and construction goods and services
- Engineering, design and construction contracts
- Understanding of the business environment; successful people leadership and management experience

Critical technical, professional and personal capabilities:
- Excellent negotiating skills
- Communication and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of project and plant operations
- Project administration and policy writing
- Leadership skills including mentoring, coaching, and team building
- Ability to establish relationship with project team members and regional category Procurement Managers

- Ensure all supply and service contracts are negotiated and finalized to realize Syngenta synergy savings for future target achievement
- Knowledge of project needs, spend data and implementation of procurement strategies, contracts and processes to support business values and project needs

- Ensure successful interface with capital project teams

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Must be able to walk or stand for extended period of time
- Must be able to climb stairs and cat walks at plant locations
- Ability to work days, evenings and weekends
- Must be able to travel by car or plane
- Ability to operate standard office equipment including phone, fax, copier and computer

WORKING CONDITIONS WHILE PERFORMING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- 75%of work performed in standard office
- 25% of work performed in field locations or meetings

OTHER:
- Must have a valid drivers license
- All applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S.
- Two years current position preferred. Candidates who have been in their current position a minimum of one year will be considered if they have the approval of their current business unit leader and hiring business unit leader.
