Our company, based in Evansville, IN serves an international customer base and is considered a world leader in our industry with sales of $50 million.  Currently we are looking for a Purchasing Manager to oversee the activities of purchasing in procuring materials, equipment, and services.  Ensure contracts with suppliers and vendors are consistent with corporate objectives.  Participate in major contract negotiations with top suppliers to secure consistent supplies and competitive prices.  Review and approve large purchases over buyers’ limits.  Develop purchasing plan and the policies and procedures for the purchasing area.  Pocess a sound understanding of business law, legal contracts and various financial issues including cash flow and working capital. 

Duties:

1.               Lead the Purchasing team members to perform their part of the strategic plan, the departmental business plan and their individual development plan in a superior manner.

2.               Plan, organize, lead and implement processes to cost-effectively manage the procurement and timely distribution of purchased equipment, raw materials, and subcontracts worldwide.

3.              Work with Sales, Estimating, Engineering, and Extended Manufacturing departments to develop better scope of work and pricing of subcontracts and purchased items for successful bidding and project execution.

4.               Negotiate with suppliers in both bidding and engineering phases for best possible design, application, price, and delivery on all materials and services.

5.               Lead Sales, Estimating, Engineering, and Extended Manufacturing in identifying and qualifying suppliers and subcontractors in the countries chosen to pursue projects.

6.              Develop, maintain, and where required, negotiate special terms and conditions for all purchase orders and contracts (including Extended Manufacturing) to protect George Koch Sons’ interests while treating suppliers fairly.

7.               Develop the use of the internet as a tool for purchasing to broaden the sources of supply and to obtain better pricing and delivery.

8.               Work with Project Managers to ensure timely ordering of purchased equipment to meet schedule needs.

9.               Coordinate activities with Engineering, Purchasing and Manufacturing for the timely arrival of purchased material and raw material to the requested destination.

10.           Work with Manufacturing Manager on inventory levels in plants so that only correct amounts are always present to fulfill production needs.

11.           Work with buyers and suppliers to obtain suppliers’ proactive input into the best selection and application of their products to fulfill proper functions in a timely manner at minimum cost.

12.           Lead the Purchasing team members to develop, maintain, and constantly review departmental procedures and work instructions.  Promote the standardization of improvements for all processes that directly or indirectly affect the quality of our products.  Ensure proper implementation of the Quality Management System in daily work environment.  Identify problems, recommend solutions, and follow-up with corrective action.  Continually look for opportunities to improve quality and productivity.

13.           Work with Facilities Manager and appropriate Manufacturing Manager to control the purchase of all MRO materials.

14.           Work with Accounts Payable to ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices.

15.           Be available for other administrative and planning groups in developing short and long-term goals for George Koch Sons, LLC.

 

Qualifications:

1.      Bachelors degree in Engineering or equivalent experience, with MBA preferred.

 

2.      Minimum five years of progressive purchasing and/or experience.

3.      Excellent interpersonal communication skills with ability to maintain rapport with internal and external customers.

4.     Clear understanding of GKS equipment design, manufacturing and installation processes.

5.     Negotiating skills in order to obtain the desired delivery schedules while buying the product and/or service at the lowest possible cost.

6.     Ability to stimulate and implement change and create a sense of urgency.

7.     Ability to work in a team environment.

8.     Ability to travel domestically and internationally.

9.     Skilled in using Microsoft Office software.

10.   Proficiency in Spanish, Portuguese, or Chinese preferred.
