Purchasing Manager Job in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin US

The Purchasing Manager reports directly to the Senior Materials Manager, and is responsible for purchasing all raw materials for the manufacturing facility and system and process integrity.  The Purchasing Manager will handle all ordering throughout the facility, as well as maintaining, updating, and modifying systems as operations grow and change to allow for efficiencies, accuracy, and operational flow.  The Purchasing Manager must be proactive in gathering necessary information for purchasing and system documentation changes, timely and accurate in system maintenance and updates, and ensure all necessary departments understand operational changes.  Must also be proactive in sending and recieving information to Accounting.

Duties and Responsibilities
Raw material and distribution product purchasing, logistics for outbound product, assisting in vendor product  quoting, vendor negotiations, product sourcing, and tracking inventory at vendor locations.

Responsible for understanding the operations of all manufacturing departments, the raw materials used in each department and how materials flow from raw material stage through the departments into a finished saleable product along with an understanding of distribution items.

Must establish rapport with each department to be able to become a liaison between the production floor and the office/sales needs for the customer.

Responsible for working with manufacturing management to keep current all systems, procedures, and processes for efficiencies, cost effectiveness, and best fit.

Responsible for understanding product promotions, RD, line changes, and new product development to ensure adequate understanding from a manufacturing perspective and knowledge for implementation into necessary manufacturing systems and procedures.

Responsible for understanding and using the current software system for manufacturing needs.  Includes an understanding of how the manufacturing pieces fit into the customer service, accounting, and costing aspects of the system.

Assist in compliance to Federal Regulations with ordering FR tagging and labeling, as well as using the FR scanning system for verification, report reviews and audits.

Qualifications
Must have a minimum of two years’ experience in the manufacturing industry in purchasing, systems, and operations.  Prefer a Bachelor’s degree in Production Operations Management or equivalent work experience.  Must have strong leadership/influencing abilities and strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation, organization and implementation skills.  Must have strong computer skills and systems operation knowledge.  Must be able to handle multiple tasks and projects with changing priorities.
