BASIC PURPOSE/SCOPE The Purchasing Manager will be a key member of the Resin-based Packaging Purchasing Team in inventory management and ordering of packaging materials to support our bakeries and co-packers. You must have prior experience in purchasing or supply chain management. Some domestic or international travel is required. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES -Collect inventory information from bakery production locations and Contract Manufacturers for entry into various planning systems and tools to develop purchase orders for packaging print runs or film extrusion orders. -Manage Oracle Procurement Transactions specific to packaging (order entry, standard cost file inputs, new specification communications on ECO's, etc.) -Maintain contract balances, have-ready dates and implement changes to quantities and prices in Oracle contracts. -Organize data and develop reports/presentations as requested by Senior Purchasing Manager. -Work in conjunction with Marketing, Sales, and Production on package development for special projects and promotions. -Coordinate material usage with timing of new graphics projects to assure smooth transition during periods of package graphics changes or new product introductions. -Assist in preparation of bids, bid analyses, material complaint data, and administration of specification records. - Help foster and manage constructive relationships with packaging vendors, to include ongoing feedback regarding performance and quality levels. Assist in cost reduction efforts by helping to develop existing and identify new suppliers and specifications. -Coordinate with Packaging Graphics to bring new product packaging to market on schedule to support new product or redesigned package transitions. Manage inventory levels to assure security of supply while minimizing risk of write-offs. -Help negotiate and settle defective material complaints in compliance with company policy and provide performance feedback to vendors. Position Requirements EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE -Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Engineering or Business preferred with 7-10 years of experience. -Minimum of Associate's degree or equivalent business experience. -Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with Oracle Financials and Purchasing Module knowledge a plus. -Good interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, and problem solving skills. -Must have at least 2 years experience in Purchasing, Inventory Management or Supply Chain Management. -Excellent computer skills and track record of data accuracy utilizing complex software systems. -Detail-oriented and possessive of project management skills; good follow-through to meet deadlines. -Proven ability to work in a team setting to meet project goals on a timely basis. -Ability to identify and recommend processes needing improvement.
