Job Description

The Purchasing Operations Manager acts as the purchasing representative within the plant to fully support commodity strategies and sourcing decisions, facilitate timely execution, and ensure plant supply needs are satisfied.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Cost reduction sourcing initiatives: Coordinate Sourcing plans with Industrial groups and aggressively identify new potential projects and drive implementation in order to help achieve Purchasing Department's Financial targets, both Direct and Indirect. Support of the achievement of  the material cost budget/official company forecasts.

·         Represent Purchasing Organization at all scheduled Plant meetings (CPM (Current Product Management), CRT (Cost Reduction Team), KMS (Key Model Scan) TWS (Top Worst Supplier)) and provide timely closure on all Purchasing assignments.  Coordinate all plant activities to support Purchasing plan and achieve implementation dates.

·         Meet the Industrial OKTS (OK to Ship) Plans: working with Industrial leadership, Purchasing and SQE, identify all supplier-related potential risks to this objective, develop solid mitigation plans to overcome risks, lead teams in implementation and monitoring for successful risk elimination to achieve month-end metrics and achieve production linearity. Support meeting the Industrial OKTS with no shortfalls due to supplier performance, both quality and delivery (within supplier lead times)

·         Resourcing projects for cost savings and to achieve Supplier Rationalization Objectives: Meet or beat planned implementation date for resourcing projects to achieve cost savings.  Provide all necessary resources to lead and coordinate project activities between Purchasing and Industrial groups to achieve target implementation dates to deliver budgeted cost reductions and Supplier Rationalization Objectives.

Requirements

 

·         Bachelors degree in business or related field or 2 years related work experience.

·         Working knowledge of manufacturing MRP systems and processes.

·         Travel Requirements: Approximately 5% of domestic travel by airplane or motor vehicle

·         Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

·         Applicant must be able to show strong leadership and communication skills across multifunctional teams

·         Strong fact based problem solving skills

·         Ability to act quickly and decisively in making tough calls and be passionate and accountable for achieving assigned tasks and goals
