Position Description:

Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics,international manufacturing company of high performance films and tapes is seeking a Purchasing Supervisor to join our team. This position oversees the purchasing and inventory to effectively balance the objectives of the Plant. This position must ensure the security of supply for raw materials and will have significant responsibility for problem solving and decision making in improving purchasing operations. With guidance, this position will also be responsible for minimizing expense, reduce working capital level and recommending policy. This position will require frequent interaction with multiple staff levels and across internal and external customer functions, most notably Manufacturing, Operations and Customer Service.
Education, Skills and Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree (Analytical, Business, Economics, Statistics, etc.), MBA preferred.
• 5- 7 years work experience in purchasing, supervision, inventory control, scheduling, and planning in a manufacturing environment, preferably aerospace. Relevant professional certification (CPM, APICS) desired.
• Strong skills in using PC, including MRP systems.
• Must have prior supervisory experience.
• Highly effective communicator with strong facilitation, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Dedicated, self-starter, high degree of motivation.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement sound purchasing policies and procedures for procuring materials and services at the most favorable costs and terms with due regard to quality, quantity, service reliability, and corporate standards for ethical conduct.
• Monitor production schedules, finished goods inventory levels shipments to ensure customer satisfaction and enable a quick and flexible response to unexpected changes in either supply or demand.
• Manage and measure supplier quality and on-time delivery performance in an effort to show continuous improvement toward a goal of 0 PPM and 100% on-time delivery.
• Monitor supplier market conditions to estimate cost trends and product availability to ensure that positive factors are optimized and negative factors are minimized respectively.
• Direct material and service sourcing, determine the ultimate vendors through competitive bids, negotiation, inspections of vendors’ facilities, issuing and approving purchase orders, and resolving issues arising in the course of a purchase transaction.
• Know business, customer and re-supply dynamics as they effect re-supply, customer service, working capital investment, and planning capital projects.
• Have specific business knowledge to successfully develop annual budgets and multi year plans.
• Possess strong negotiation skills and the ability to present complex ideas simply and clearly.
• Develop alternative solutions to proactively identify and manage excessive demand (e.g. work with Sales to prioritize demand by Customer/Product in case of allocation issues, etc.) and other volatility risks in the supply chain.
• Work with operations to implement new product launches execution plans.
• This position will determine the best use of people, processes and technologies to ensure supply chain reliability, speed, convenience and the best perceived value to the customer at the lowest possible cost
• Provide leadership and accountability within direct reports, ensuring a growth in expertise knowledge.
