Job Summary

Oversees and assists in the execution daily activities while insuring purchasing practices and productivity are optimized.  Contributes to the development of best practices and manages responsibilities to meet or exceed strategic goals.

 

·         Supervises personnel including:  determining workload and delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions.

·         Assists in instituting and maintaining department policies and procedures.

·         Contributes to the execution of daily purchasing activities.

·         Assists in controlling inventory levels based on customer requirements, service level           maintenance, and vendor performance.

·         Manages and monitors inventory cycle counting and adjustments.

·         Assists in the selection of new vendor sources based on analysis and advanced research of market trends, market forces, pricing, and supply problems.

·         Reviews/Manages warehouse records for accuracy and conformity to standardized format. 

·         Manages and monitors the accuracy and timeliness of purchasing parameters.

·         Develops and screens new and/or complex product specifications.

·         Scrutinizes vendor bids and/or proposals.

·         Oversees and assists in the timeliness and quality of RFQ processing. 

·         Assists purchasing staff in the negotiation for best costs/ service, and observes quality of purchased items.

·         Insures the completeness and compliance with RMA and corrective action procedures in a timely manner.

·         Develops and maintains vendor relationships.

·         Oversees the maintenance of UN Certification and specification records.

·         Assists in the timely execution of purchasing projects.

·         Supervises the timely update of vendor price changes.

·         Establishes priorities, supervises resources, and reviews projects progress and results.

 

Requirements

·         Knowledge of principles and practices of purchasing.

·         Knowledge of administration of vendor contracts or similar agreements.

·         Knowledge of applicable laws, rules and regulations regarding purchased products.

·         Knowledge of product lines and merchandise pricing techniques.

·        Degree or equivalent from four-year College or technical school.

·        Five or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of both.

·        APICS CPM or CPIM or equivalent preferred.
