Python / Java Developer - Finance experience (Market Data) - to £125k
Design, architect and develop data solutions to help trading teams make market data driven decisions
Requirements
* Experience developing with Python, Java or functional languages
* Fluency with relational databases and SQL performance tuning techniques
* Experience with data modeling best practices, including dataset immutability
* DevOps mindset
* Passionate about data
* Strong attention to detail
* Experience with file systems, server architectures, and distributed systems
* Ability to initiate and drive projects to completion with minimal guidance
* Able to communicate clearly and effectively using multiple media
Responsibilities
* Build and maintain automated processes for the management and manipulation of tens of terabytes of data for consumption by the entire company
* Perform both regular and ad-hoc analysis leveraging a wide array of data tools
* Generate insights, diagnose problems, and support market data decisions by transforming very large data sets into actionable information
* Work closely with data analysts to construct creative solutions for their analysis tasks
* Focus on scaling horizontally rather than vertically
* Influence overall strategy and roadmap to architect build a scalable insights solution as well as data warehouse environment
* Support end users on ad-hoc data usage
Nice to have
* Exposure to financial markets
* Exposure to NoSQL environments
* Exposure to an analysis tool such as R, Matlab, or SAS
* Experience working with distributed computing tools (Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, etc.)
