Qualitative Investment Analyst
Mitra Capital LLC (Mitra) is a Boston-based equity hedge fund seeking candidates with 1-3 years of employment experience for a position on its investment team. The Analyst would join a small team focused on intensive company research and would have direct interaction with senior analysts and the portfolio manager. The fund runs a concentrated long-short equity portfolio, with a focus on predicting near-term company performance utilizing a proprietary behavior assessment methodology rooted in the Central Intelligence Agency. The analyst would be trained extensively in the firm’s unique behavioral analysis methodology, which focuses on using verbal indicators to judge the completeness and reliability of messages, to form predictions about company performance. The analyst would be focused on assembling thoughtful and thorough analyses of management commentary from quarterly earnings calls and investor conferences that would then be used in determining the investment decisions of the fund. Candidates need not have investment experience but should have a demonstrated ability and drive to succeed in a hedge fund environment.
Roles Responsibilities:
- Analyze transcripts and audio of earnings calls and conference presentations using behavior assessment methodology
- Use methodology to derive conclusions about management’s expectations for near-term company performance
- Prepare investment memos for consideration by other team members
- Present and debate investment theses with full investment team

Qualifications Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree including coursework in business, economics, finance and other relevant subjects
- Strong academic achievement; GPA of 3.5+ strongly preferred
- One to three years of experience in investment banking, investment management, management consulting or other relevant areas
- Given qualitative focus of role, financial modeling experience not required
