General Overview of the role

We are looking for a determined and technically capable QA / Test Engineer to join our established Quality Assurance Group that will focus on providing ‘Quality Services’ to the Setup and Licensing development team. This is an excellent opportunity for the right person to make a real difference to quality in this area which will be wide reaching in our Clients portfolio.

 

Responsibilities

The main responsibility will be to ensure that Setup and Licensing technologies are tested appropriately within a wide range of our Clients products on a number of different platforms to ensure levels of quality remain high. This will primarily involve:

· Design, implement and execute tests reported against identified risks

· Take advantage of our clients testing tools like ‘SilkTest’ and other internal tooling to build test frameworks that execute on flavours of Windows, Unix, Linux and z/OS

· Automate test cases at different test levels (Component, System, Acceptance)

· Maintain test and continuous integration environments ensuring testing is performed to agreed timescales

 

Required Skills and Experience

· Educated to Degree Level – ideally Computer Science or similar subject

· At least 3 years technical experience in software development

· Demonstrable experience in test design and automation in complex environments

· Programming/scripting experience and an understanding of programming principles

· A natural interest and enthusiasm for testing

· Committed to delivering results, making a positive impact and staying focused on the job in hand

· Able to work efficiently with minimal supervision.

· Independent with a positive frame of mind mixed with a strong resolve

· Excellent investigation skills

· Able to collaborate in an agile team and be accountable for their work

 

Beneficial Sills and Experience

· ISEB Foundation / Intermediate Certificate in Software Testing (or equivalent)

· An understanding of non-functional product attributes

· A logical and analytical approach to problem solving and pays close attention to detail.

· Organized and methodical, ability to keep track of technical work and steps taken while dealing with other numerous tasks
