Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Director, IT Governance manage a team of Quality Assurance Analysts in performing standard testing functions on assigned projects. The Quality Assurance (ITO) Manager is responsible for mitigating implementation and deployment risks by establishing and ensuring adherence to testing methodologies, monitoring quality assurance and managing testing resources throughout the software development lifecycle.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Review, evaluate, and document existing Quality Assurance/testing code, processes and contributors.
- Review, evaluate, document dedicated/shared/contributed hardware testing environments.
- Working with internal IT team to document existing and future hardware/software environments, as well as areas of concern for them.
- Ensure test coverage across a broad range of environments, testing all elements of the release process.Correlate areas of focus, and prioritize testing methodologies
- based on prior areas of concern, and areas of current/future development focus.Author, with collaborative buy-in from all parties, a practical methodology for testing.
- Publish, champion, and revise plans in partnership with all stakeholders.
- Write, delegate, and utilize testing into a consolidated suite of documented tests.
- Put together a plan for future testing, including areas for development, hardware/lab requirements, and staffing requirements, to obtain specific results.
- Manage a per-release QA plan, using existing engineering and hardware
- Split time equally between testing production fixes and enhancements to existing code bases.
- Ensure release alpha and beta test programs, developed with product manager, have clearly define deliverables and timelines, and that these are met.
- Develop response strategies and processes for high-criticality and security vulnerability related bug notifications. Pro-actively investigate and find potential security holes and attack vectors within both the existing and newly-developed code base.
- Review historical, existing and ongoing bug reports to identify areas needing specific attention.
- Liaison with IT project managers and individual software development Managers to ensure delivery of a high-quality product is compatible with release timeline targets.
- Test conformance of products to unit, regression, protocol/interoperabilty and user interface standards.
- Manage a team of up to 10 associates could be on or off shore
Experience and Education Requirements
- 10 years testing experience (15 preferred) with 5 years in a leadership role.
- At least five years of experience in performing testing and maintaining the quality of a complex software product.
- Managing on and offshore teams
- Bachelor's Degree. Masters preferred.
Minimum Skills, Knowledge and Ability Requirements
- Strong leader with testing with reality based focus on testing strategy and execution.
- Proven track record of completing projects to specifications while dealing with challenges such as cross-team dependencies, changing schedules, and constantly evolving requirements.
- Proven record of developing and managing testing processes and procedures in a fast paced test environment.
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Experience with HP Quality Center and testing automation strategies
