Position Description
This position will have a high attention to detail, approach software testing scientifically and strive to build a test arsenal that will prove the product has defects. The Test Engineer will ensure artifacts contain the information required to devise comprehensive scripts with a large code coverage berth. The Test Engineer will push the Development organization to develop quality code by standing firm on the ideals of Quality. This position strives to prove their value by constantly devising new ways to test the product and extract test cases from requirements that would normally not be seen by a software developer.
Roles and responsibilities:
Carry out product testing duties to ensure that the products meet the requirements and customer expectations
Responsible for designing, developing, and executing test scripts to be used for testing software
Work with product manager and developers to understand impact of product changes, assess risks, and develop test strategy
Analyze and provide feedback on requirements and design documents regarding testability
Define and implement Test Harnesses using Java or scripting tools
Provide test effort estimates based on project scope and requirements
Identify data requirements for testing
Execute testing, analyze the results and report the execution status
Contribute to the design, architecture and implementation of test frameworks and automation tools
Suggest improvements to advancing the test team¿s design methodology and testing practices
Minimum Requirements
7 years of software testing experience
3-5 years experience as a Test Engineer
Excellent trouble shooting, problem solving, and strong communication skills
Excellent communication skills in writing and oral
Understanding of Quality Assurance methodologies, testing techniques, and maintenance of test cases
Strong knowledge of testing concepts, tools, methodologies
Knowledge of n-tier applications and servers
Software engineering programming experience - Jython, Java, Python a strong plus
Strong knowledge of Relational Databases and SQL, specifically Oracle 10-11g, other databases a plus
Education
4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience
