Quality Control / Improvement Process Engineer Job in Rockford 61109, Illinois US
JOB SUMMARY:
Facilitate continuous improvement throughout the product realization lifecycle. Support new product design development, manufacturing, assembly, testing and inspection. Supervision of inspection staff and quality engineer.
Establish, monitor and maintain quality programs, procedures and inspection methodologies to assure compliance to specifications. Ensure that established systems, procedures and protocols are adequate to provide for consistent product quality. Utilize continuous improvement tools and collect and analyze data to develop improvement strategies. Act as a change agent and promote continuous improvement throughout the organization. Support contract review and new product design initiatives to ensure customer quality requirements are achievable, planned for and executed. Drive the organization to systematically use structured methods and tools for problem solving and quality improvements. Supervise, guide and evaluate staff by providing training, documenting employee performance and providing recommendations for development. Coordinate inspection activities, schedule work assignments and set priorities. Oversee timely problem resolution of manufacturing related customer issues.
BACKGROUND:
- Bachelor’s in engineering, science, quality or related degree
- 8+ years’ progressive experience, preferably in aerospace or medical device industry
- Project management, ability to adhere to deadlines and commitments and lead internal staff
- ASQ certifications such as CQE, CQM are preferred
- Lean and/or Six Sigma certifications is a plus
- Proficiency in the use of process control tools (SPC, Process Capability, PFMEA, Process Control Plans)
- Corrective actions methodologies (8D, RCCA, 5 Why’s)
- Knowledge of AS9100 and/or ISO9001 quality management system requirements
- Computer skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Minitab or similar
