Our client in Buffalo, NY has an immediate direct hire opening for a Quality Engineer. Duties: · Drive continuous improvement through data collection/analysis and the application of engineering principles to streamline manufacturing methods/process flow, while improving product quality. · Apply continuous improvement principles/tools, including statistical analysis, 5S, one-piece flow and kaizen events. · Document process methods, work instructions, and standard work in an ISO-based system. · Train operators. · Establish optimal run rates and process/quality metrics. · Post goals/metrics as part of Visual Factory. · Install, relocate and validate new equipment. · Work with equipment suppliers on new equipment specifications and maintenance. · Construct FMEA and control plans as needed. · Assist in leading the Corrective and Preventive Actions process with a focus on identifying root cause and implementing appropriate corrective actions. · Team with suppliers to establish product specifications and to address any deficiencies through the Supplier Corrective Action process. Travel required to Rochester, NY for first 6 months. Needed competencies: ? Excellent attention to detail and follow through ? Professional demeanor and ability to interact with all employees, customers and suppliers ? Able to lead and participate effectively with teams ? Able to work in a fast-paced environment and ?wear many hats? Minimum Qualifications: ? 4-year degree in an Engineering discipline or related field ? Experience working in an ISO-certified manufacturing environment ? 3 ? 5 years of quality-related work experience in a manufacturing environment ? Exp. reading blue prints using calibration equipment ? Skilled and experienced in project management and problem-solving methodology ? Intermediate to high proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel Preferred qualifications: ? Exp working with ISO 13485 (Medical Devices standard) and/or 21 CFR Part 820 ? Experience working in the printing, converting, or packaging industries ? Understanding of statistical process control ? Lean/Six sigma experience ? Green/Black Belt preferred, or CQE ?
