Quality Engineer - Bloomfield, CT Direct Placement Competitive Salary JOB SUMMARY: Maintains and audits all aspects of a third party registered quality management system. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Work closely with customers, managers, and technical staff to assure adherence to quality standards 2. Prepare, institute, and monitor standard operating procedures as needed. 3. Conduct internal audits and report results 4. Work with staff to correct QMS identified deficiencies and maintain certification for AS 9001 5. Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and test products for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics 6. Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures 7. Evaluates data and write reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards 8. Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability 9. Monitor the application for improvement initiatives 10. Sets up and performs destructive and non-destructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics 11. Conducts studies to determine cause, effect and corrective measures required to remedy deviation from standard 12. Other duties as assigned Knowledge and Skill Requirements 1. Working knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures related to quality management systems such as AS9100, ISO9001, or equivalent 2. Ability to prepare graphs or charts of data and enter data into computer analysis 3. Must have strong interpersonal, organizational and communicationskills 4. Ability to work independently or in a team environment 5. Must have effective problem solving skills MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE 1. Textile Industry experience helpful 2. Minimum of two to four years manufacturing or process engineering experience with heavy exposure to quality control in a small to medium sized company 3. Must have good PC skills 4. Must be a self starter with attention to detail Working Conditions Time is divided between production area and office. In the Production area of the plant, a mixture of chemicals is being used in process. Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment. Physical Effort : 1. Normal physical mobility, which includes movement from place to place on the job 2. Moderate physical activity involved in performance of daily activities. 3. Light lifting of materials and product may be required.
