PURPOSE:
- The Quality Engineer will ensure that the Quality Engineering function is executed properly and promptly.
- The QE will oversee product development projects ensuring that they execute tasks efficiently and monitor design control aspects of the projects.
- Contributes to decreasing the cost of internal and external failure (Quality).
- Maintains the high ethical standards in relation with customers, peers and employees and adheres to high professional standards in all activities.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES/DUTIES:
- Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation.
- Devises sampling procedures and designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating and reporting quality and reliability data.
- Develops and implements methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and devises methods to assess cost and responsibility.
- Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product or process quality and reliability.
- Compiles and writes training material and conducts training sessions on quality control activities.
- Supports Product Engineers and Quality Program Manager with customer interfaces as necessary on quality related issues.
- Assures data availability and integrity for all quality related data. Consolidates and reports quality results.
- Initiates corrective action requests as needed and tracks to satisfactory completion.
- Assists with development and implementation of quality audits.
- Responsible for developing, applying, revising and maintaining quality standards for processing materials into partially finished or finished products.
- Designs and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and/or production equipment.
- Analyzes reports and returned products and recommends corrective action.
- Establishes program to evaluate precision and accuracy of production/development equipment and testing, measurement and analytical equipment and facilities.
- Approves product, process and equipment qualifications.
- Provides liaison to various regulatory bodies
- Provide quality engineering support to production and development engineering. This includes but is not limited to validation activities, data analysis, report and protocol writing, SPC program oversight and problem solving/continual improvement.
- Customer Interaction, inter-plant interaction and other relationship building, including a limited amount of travel where necessary.
- Compliance enforcement of all procedures and practices relating to FDA Regulations and ISO 13485:2003 Requirements
- Release of DHR and Product to Finished Goods, as needed.
- Maximize inspection effectiveness of Metrology Techs through efficient Quality Planning and review activities
- Serves as a member of Internal Audit Team
- Participates in the investigation of Customer Complaints.
- Participates in Quality System Maintenance Activities, such as CAPA, Internal/External Audits, Complaints and other activities as needed.
- Creates and completes work instructions and procedures relating to inspection and testing.
- Participates to provide continuous improvement of inspection effectiveness
- Communicate to the organization the importance of meeting customer, as well as statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate the company’s Quality Policy and ensure that all employees within the organization understand it.
- Identify and implement any changes necessary to ensure and maintain the continued suitability of the quality management system.
- Communicate, by word and example, the importance of complying with ISO 13485:2003 and U.S. Regulations.
REQUIRED (MUST-HAVE) QUALIFICATIONS:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- BS or BA degree and at least 4 to 6 years experience in metrology, data analysis and other Quality Engineering related activities.
- ASQ certification desired. ASQ-CQT minimum, CQE preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication, organization, problem solving and interpersonal skills are necessary
- Experience with quality system oversight for electro mechanical and disposable devices
