Quality Engineer - Polymer Products
Summary: This position is responsible for overseeing quality related issues associated with all products manufactured in the injection molding and machining area. These responsibilities include lead and participate in teams providing root cause investigation, analysis and corrective action plans; identify, develop and implement quality improvement plans; identify, implement and coordinate 3rd party quality testing; inspect incoming, in process products and materials as well as completed products for conformance with specifications; Lead and participate in quality audits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Create and lead cross functional teams in quality investigation, root cause analysis, and development of action plans to resolve quality issues.
- Write procedures for the Quality Assurance Department along with any special processes that would contribute to the quality of a completed part and/or assembly.
- Develop metrics and reports on material and time consumption due to off-spec goods or goods which are re-worked to achieve prime grade specification.
- Participate in vendor/customer relations, internal and external audits, and active in the control of nonconforming materials.
- Review incoming materials for conformance with raw material specifications.
- Identify and execute quality improvement programs in the manufacturing space, utilizing new technologies, methods and equipment to ensure all goods leaving the facility are in compliance with quality standards.
- Confers with engineering, production, methods or any other personnel on quality problems and recommend solutions.
- Seek, secure and communicate with 3rd party agencies to conduct testing or analysis of polymer based materials should specific testing capability not exist internally.
- Recommend new methods / instrumentation / equipment for use in quality assessment of manufactured articles.
- Assist in the daily operations of the quality assurance department.
- Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering from an accredited university and three or more years related experience in engineering or a quality profession; or an equivalent combination thereof.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of standardly used software such as Microsoft Office programs and the statistical capabilities within Excel. Knowledge of SAP would also be a plus.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Certified Quality Engineer Certificate or Certified Quality Auditor Certification Preferred. Six Sigma Green or Black Belt a plus.
Other Skills and Abilities
Must have experience in utilizing methodologies or problem solving processes (e.g. 8D process, DMAIC, Root Cause Analysis) in quality resolution activities. Fluent in product /process analysis, SPC reporting, N/A
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering from an accredited university and three or more years related experience in engineering or a quality profession; or an equivalent combination thereof.
