Seal Science, Inc in Irvine, CA is an industry leader in design engineering and precision manufacturing of elastomeric, PTFE, and thermoplastic components for critical sealing applications. Seal Science is currently looking for a dynamic, self starter Quality Inspector to perform final, receiving and first article inspections.

SUMMARY

Conducts variety of electronic, mechanical, and electromechanical tests on material, subassemblies, and parts manufactured to ensure compliance and conformance to machining specifications and dimensional specifications, detect defects or to determine cause of unit failure; inspects raw and finished parts, materials and product for by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Reads test schedule, work orders, test manuals, performance specifications, diagrams, and schematics to determine testing and inspection procedure and equipment to be used.

 

Tests functional performance of subassemblies and parts under specified environmental conditions such as temperature change, vibration, pressure, and humidity.

  

Reads dials or digital displays that indicate material/product and part characteristics such as  strength, distortion, inductance, and capacitance, alignment of parts according to specifications.

 

Compares results with specifications and records test data or plots test results on graph.

 

Analyzes test results on defective units to determine cause of failure.

 

Rejects and records defective parts, and marks type of defect on part, container of parts, or inspection tag and returns unit to production department for repair.

 

Confers with supervisor and/or management personnel regarding testing procedures and results and may recommend how to resolve problems.

 

Verifies dimensions of pins, shafts, and other mechanical parts.

 

Setup test equipment to evaluate performance and operation of nonstandard or customer returned units.

 

Visually examines and feels product to detect defects such as dents, splits, blemishes, loose and uneven joints, holes, and faulty sanding, alignment of parts according to specifications..

 

Records quantity of material approved and rejected on inspection report.

 

Examines material or product for surface defects such as cracks, pits, and incomplete welds.

 

Compares product with parts list or sample model to ensure completion of assembly.

  

Verifies specified dimensions and  conformance of product or material.

 

Tests parts/products for defects includes reading specifications, measuring length or width of article to detect variation from customer or plant specifications.

 

Inspects for imperfections of finish and incorrect dimensions.

 

Prepares reports of findings.

 

QUALIFICATIONS  Individual must have a minimum of 2 years experience in an AS9100 inspection environment.  A knowledge of AS9100 first article inspection procedures is a must.
Knowledge of EPICOR Vantage ERP system a plus.
 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 2+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
