***QUALITY MANAGER - AUTOMOTIVE MANUFACTURING - LANCASHIRE SALARY C.£50k***

The Role

Reporting into the Head of Quality, the role of Quality Manager involves planning, organising and leading the quality function to facilitate the manufacture of product whilst ensuring adequate controls are in place to exceed quality requirements of both internal and external customers. As Quality Manager you will be responsible for Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality, Quality Systems Management setting the Quality strategies. Working alongside Manufacturing Operations you will ensure effective problem resolution of all quality concerns using analytical tools such as 8D and fishbone diagrams. The Quality Manager will also be part of the concurrent engineering team who work together on new product introduction and you will use APQP, FMEA and PPAP to ensure all quality aspects are considered and approved. Other dimensions of the role will be to monitor, maintain and improve all aspects of the Quality Management System in accordance with TS16949:2002 including managing the internal systems audit process and lead the management review with the goal to improve all aspects of the QMS. As Quality Manager you will ensure adequate support is given to the manufacturing process and obtain process data in order to drive continuous improvements thereby improving profitability, efficiencies and reducing scrap. You will work closely with suppliers and develop them in existing manufacturing and new product introductions to ensure the optimum quality levels are achieved. The Quality Manager will manage the Quality Team by setting clear KPIs and objectives within realistic timescales and ensure the department complies legally with all regulations and meets it budget.

The Person

Applicants must be an experienced Quality Manager from within the automotive manufacturing sector ideally within a tier 1 supplier. The Quality Manager must be an effective leader and strong people manager who can lead the team effectively in a fast paced and demanding sector. It is essential that you have a sound understanding and practical experience of the implementation and maintenance of automotive quality systems such as TS16949, QS9000 and also IS0 14001. We are looking for a team player who can work closely with Manufacturing Operations, Engineering and Projects with regard to new product introduction and driving continuous improvements and quality concerns. You must have strong leadership skills and be able to develop, appraise, coach and improve your team. It is also essential to have strong problem solving skills and be confident in communicating best practice and leading change. A track record in building effective relationships with key customers is a pre- requisite for this role as are strong communication and influencing skills.
