Summary
Provide leadership for the quality team in the resolution of problems and continuous improvement of product, processes and the quality management system. This is a customer facing position to integrate the Voice of the Customer to actionable manufacturing and supplier strategies. The Quality Manager will work within the Moorpark plant leadership team addressing all areas of business operations, and focused on achieving quality and operating objectives.

Strategy Development and Deployment

Approach strategy development with a clear understanding of legal and regulatory factors, market forces, industry trends, technology trends and competitive pressures - S.W.O.T. (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats).

Utilize external (customer satisfaction surveys) and internal analysis (internal audit, capability analysis) to gather data for setting strategy

Assure integration between strategic quality plans and operations / financial or other plans.

Deploy strategic goals and objectives into operational plans and improvement projects.

Perform resource allocation planning to support the strategy.

Develop metrics and goals that drive organizational performance in alignment of the strategy.
Quality Management Tools
-
Facilitate and promote problem-solving tools (the seven quality control tools, the seven management and planning tools, root cause analysis, Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA), 8D and other like models).

Facilitate and promote process management / lean manufacturing approaches with a quality principled focus.

Facilitate and promote measurement assessment and metrics methods (Statistical analysis, Trend analysis, Process capability, Reliability and validity, Qualitative assessment, Analysis and use of survey results, Benchmarking: internal and external)

Driving stakeholder for accepted quality system; e.g. BMS
Customer Relationship Management and Commitment
-
Determine levels of customer satisfaction through the use of various surveys and analysis tools.
-
Proactively approach customers, make trips to the field, etc., to help build relationships and a clear understanding of expectations. Continually anticipate customer needs and priorities; and integrate them into the quality system and policy.

Deploy the voice of the customers through various tools (QFD, Tech 21, Supplier requirements management, etc..)
Supplier Performance

Supplier selection strategies and criteria

Techniques for communicating requirements to suppliers

Techniques for assessment and feedback of supplier performance

Partnerships and alliances with suppliers
Project Management / Communications

Structure and coordinate activities to successfully implement improvements (project justification and prioritization techniques, communication techniques, project planning and estimation, monitor and measure project activity, project documentation and related procedures

Maintain key performance metrics on the results of operating systems and business execution (external warranty, internal PPM, etc.)

Compile and present quality metrics, countermeasures and action plans for operations reviews.
Quality System Leadership
-
Ensure that the quality function / mission is clearly communicated and a quality plan developed to support the mission.

Periodically review the effectiveness of the quality system and make adjustments as necessary.

Understand the various quality models (ie. Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (MBNQA) Criteria for Performance Excellence, ISO 9000, and other major industry or international standards)
Training and Development
-
Ensure that training is in alignment with strategic business needs and the quality objective using various methods (training needs analysis, training curriculum development, and techniques for evaluating training effectiveness).
QUALIFICATIONS
-
Must have experience in handling multiple projects, drive bottom line results, and must be able to lead and develop teams consisting of manufacturing personnel (technical and operations), managers and suppliers.

Must be a hands-on self-starting team player with a solid working knowledge in the fundamentals of solid and fluid mechanics.

Must be able to work within and meet aggressive deadlines.
-
Must be detail oriented, have solid organizational skills, be capable of multi-tasking and have strong written and oral communication skills.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
-
Bachelors’ degree in Engineering or Statistics
-
8+ years Engineering or Quality experience
-
A minimum of three years of this experience must be in in a decision-making position with the authority to define, execute, or control projects/processes and to be responsible for the outcome.
-
A minimum of two years experience in leading professionals in the advancement of quality and/or product engineering
-
Lean manufacturing experience required
