Suncorp Bank is seeking to enhance its risk and capital management capabilities to meet Basel II advanced standards as provided by the Basel II accord and the regulatory standards prescribed by APRA. A major program of work has been established to design, build and implement these enhancements. As part of this program we are currently recruiting for a Quantitative Business Analyst, Economic Capital ? Basel II Advanced Program.
Reporting to the Workstream Leader ? Economic Capital (Basel II Advanced), the key purpose of this role is to contribute to the design and implementation of initiatives to comply with the advanced capital management requirements of the Basel II Accord and APS 110, 111.
In this pivotal role your key accountabilities will be to:
- Build and validate a bank based regulatory and economic capital calculation model(s) in conjunction with Suncorp Bank and Group established parameters to support Basel II Advanced Accreditation
- Design an analytical suite to assist in the management and education of risk and capital management
- Build relationships with business, risk, data and reporting stakeholders
- Enhance familiarity with advanced Basel II and APRA prudential standards' requirements and baseline Suncorp capital and risk frameworks and practices
- Assist in development of gap analysis, and scope initiatives to meet the requirements; engage Team/Workstream Leaders and key stakeholders in agreeing scope and schedule
- Contribute to the documentation of requirements to enable initiatives to be undertaken within the workstream, business or functional areas as BAU or projects
- Manage own set of discrete tasks and deliverables, either stand-alone initiatives or documentary requirements for wider initiatives
- Assist in testing, QA or peer reviews of workstream developments
- Provide measurement, analysis, monitoring of qualitative outputs to inform capital allocation, risk profiles and financial management
- Ongoing management of development of model to ensuring ongoing compliance of model to current regulatory frameworks, data extraction and mapping processes and changes to the Bank's Risk Appetite
To be considered for this role, you will have at least 3 years experience in a quantitative and business analyst role. Previous industry experience within financial institutions is preferred. Previous experience with implementing Basel frameworks/models is highly desired. In addition you will have the following skills and knowledge:
- Relevant undergraduate qualifications desired (e.g. Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Applied Science)
- Strong working knowledge of mathematical and database languages
- Demonstrated ability to present processes and reports to non technical people
- Experience in building models from the base up, and producing detailed documentation in support
- Proven project management experience capabilities
