The UK Internal Validation Team has a diverse remit covering credit risk model validation across Corporate, Retail and Wholesale Banking. In addition, the UK IVT remit also includes validation of Economic Capital methodologies, Stress Testing, Pillar II models and exposure to market risk methodologies.

The UK validation team is responsible for Group interests across North-East Europe, as well as the UK. This provides team members a unique experience working across multiple geographies and areas within risk. In addition to the UK, the validation team works colleagues in Germany, Poland, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Sweden

As a Quantitative Risk Manager your main responsibilities will involve:

*Management of Analysts to deliver against targeted plans
*Conducting independent reviews of newly developed and proposed models/methodologies, mainly related to Basel II (PD, LGD, EAD,…) and decisioning (e.g. scorecards).
*Reviewing technical documentation which has been written to describe the models that have been developed
*Ensuring that models are fit for purpose in accordance with company strategy and aims
*Performing ongoing model validation duties
*Tracking and monitoring progress against previous validation recommendations
*Creating technical documentation
*Presenting main validation findings to appropriate governance committees
*Suggesting and improving validation processes
*Liaison with both regulators and internal stakeholders to gain approval for models and drive improvements

Your skills and qualifications will include:

*Degree level education in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Mathematical Finance, Economics or Engineering; Postgraduate qualification/PhD would be advantageous
*A working knowledge of SAS is essential. Knowledge of alternatives such as SQL, E-Views, SPSS or any other statistical software is advantageous
*Track record of successful delivery in a statistical analysis or modelling role, preferably within a credit risk function
*Experience of interpreting and writing technical documentation
*Appreciation/knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements such as Basel II is essential.
*Spanish and German language skills will be advantageous.
*Detailed knowledge of credit market place and best practices
*Understanding of finance is highly advantageous, as often Santander is looking to price against risk

This role will provide exposure to an array of risk modelling techniques, with a focus on decision and (A)IRB models for credit risk. The successful candidate will therefore benefit from a diverse exposure to the models developed across the Santander Group as well as the opportunity to grow and interact with existing members of the UK team as well as colleagues in Madrid and further afield.

To succeed in this role you will need to demonstrate strong written and verbal communications skills, analytical skills and mature and logical approach to problem solving. On top of this, you will need to be able to articulate recommendations in an effective and balanced manner and provide suitable justification in the event of challenge. You will be motivated and able to lead a small team to deliver on aggressive plans, whilst at the same time lead innovation to drive improvements vis-à-vis process and tools. You should also be a natural team player, comfortable liaising with other business areas. You will also need to be able to work independently and under pressure.

Salary: Up to £63,200 + Car Allowance + Excellent Benefits
