Quantitative Trader – PM role. recruitment

My client is a relatively new fund based in New York. It is a spin off from a well-established quantitative hedge fund with an 8 year positive track record. The fund is currently running a quantitative equity strategy which is predominately intraday but also runs an overlying mid-term strategy.

The candidate coming on board must have a profitable track record spanning at least 3 years.   My client’s attitude to risk is conservative and as such they will be looking closely at not only the y.o.y return of the strategy but also the volatility, SR and leverage used to produce the returns.

The candidate who joins will initially be bringing diversification to the fund, but their ultimate mandate will be to grow a new arm of the fund which will be equally significant in terms of investment as the equity arm. As such it is essential that the individual coming on board is responsible for the running and research of the source of alpha of their strategy and is not in a purely dev or supportive role.

Strategies must be automated and quantitative driven. They have a preference for high frequency to intraday strategies to minimalize risk as well as to leverage technology already in place. However they will also portfolios which have mid term momentum/mean reversion elements to them depending on the overall performance.

Compensation is excellent, and due to the current time of year they are open minded as to how exactly the compensation is structured in the long term. They are open to discussions with groups as well as individuals, however a greater number of personal would have to reflect a larger portfolio which can be managed from the outset.

The process has been structured such that compatibility can be immediately  assessed for both parties, with a meeting with the fund’s owner as well and the lead equity PM as an initial meeting. They are keen to bring the successful candidate on board sooner rather than later, however they are sensitive to the time of year / non competes etc, and as such will take all of these aspects into consideration.
