Job Description:

Cutler Group, LP is looking for top-tier professionals to join their team in San Francisco. QTAs will research trading opportunities in equity options and across a variety of asset classes based on special situations and market inefficiencies to develop new strategies and recommendations for the Firm.  They may also work with a team of developers, analysts, and traders to integrate the output of their analytical work into new or improved automated trading systems. Other roles include exploring new products and even entirely new markets for profitable opportunities.

QTAs will take classes to enhance their trading knowledge, with topics covering but not limited to: Options Theory, Financial markets, Game Theory, and Stock Research and Analysis.

Career progress of the QTA will be evaluated based on the individual’s contribution to profitable trading strategies and the success of the team as a whole.

Qualifications

Qualified applicants must be competitive and self-motivated, have a history of superior academic achievement, and possess strong quantitative abilities, logical reasoning, and communication skills. Candidates should thrive in a team-oriented and fast-paced work environment. Particular consideration will be given to candidates with ability in software development, and that are interested in pursuing a career involving both software and financial analysis. 

A recent (2008-2012) BS or MS Degree in Economics, Financial Engineering, Computer Science, Physical Sciences or Math is necessary, with a minimum GPA of 3.5. Proficiency with Excel/VBA is also required, as well as familiarity with at least one programming/scripting language. Coursework in financial derivatives, stochastic processes, machine learning, and financial modeling is strongly desired. Preference given to candidates who are currently West Coast based.
