Operates radiology equipment to produce radiographic images of specified areas of the body and performs related technical x-ray procedures, in accordance with physician's orders and standard techniques, procedures or specific instructions. Makes members/patients and their needs a primary focus of one's actions; develops and sustains productive member/patient relationships. Considers how actions or plans will affect members; responds quickly to meet member/patient needs and resolves problems. Drives mobile mammo coach to and from clinical sites. Essential Functions:
Courteously instructs patients about x-ray procedures to be performed; positions patients for mammographic imaging, utilizing supportive and immobilization devices to prevent undue movement; and uses protective shielding as practiced with ALARA.
Operates and positions complex radiographic equipment at proper distance and angle for purposes of obtaining standard mammographic images. Consistently selects appropriate detector size and correct technical factors relative to the study, the patient's age, and body habitus. Follows required standards as specified by Policy and Procedures, protocols and/or regulatory requirements. Consistently completes Radiology Information System entries to ensure accurate patient information by: tracking patient in/out of procedure room, tracking supplies/films used, identifying patient images, tracking repeated images, and all other necessary aspects of RIS. Reviews images for accuracy and technical quality, according to established standards, and repeats procedures as required; submits images for interpretation by radiologist. Educates patients regarding the type and duration of procedures; and assists radiologist or fellow technologist with examinations as required. Evaluates the technical quality of images performed. Performs and documents quality control on equipment as required by statute, or written Policies and Procedures, by monitoring the operating condition of the equipment and accessories. Utilizes proper radiation protection, sterile technique, and universal precautions; as specified, for exams performed. Cleans and makes minor adjustment to equipment, and reports equipment malfunctions to supervisor/manager. Performs and documents all quality control testing as required by MQSA as well as the requirements of the equipment manufacturer. Verbally communicates effectively and appropriately in a clear and concise manner; demonstrates courteous and appropriate telephone skills. Communicates in writing accurately, completely and legibly, and routes such communication appropriately and in a timely manner. Considers the cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological maturation process, in the delivery of services to patients in the age group served. Assesses data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and provides the care needed in accordance with department policy. Exercises clinical judgment within the technologist's scope of practice. Performs other duties as required. Requires working with radiant energy sources. May require working with bio-hazardous waste.

Must be able to safely and carefully drive the mobile mammography coach, arriving on time at each screening location. Must be willing and able to set up and level coach prior to performing mammograms, and to prepare coach for transit at the end of each work day. Returns coach to dock at end of day; downloads electronic data at end of work day. Must learn how to operate all components and trouble shoot mobile coach components, such as the generator, heating and air conditioning, levelers, alarms, back up indicators and cameras.

Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
High school graduation or equivalent. Successful completion of a Radiologic Technology training program approved by the American Medical Association, plus certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Must also be Registered as a Mammographer by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist. Ability to operate Radiologic equipment and perform related technical procedures. Must be able to lift and carry up to 44 pounds throughout the work day. May require heavy lifting. Must demonstrate customer service skills, customer focus abilities and the ability to understand Kaiser Permanente customer needs. Ability to provide mammography services in a mobile mammography coach at designated locations. Valid Colorado license with no moving traffic violations during the past twelve months required. Commercial driver license required. Basic knowledge of automotive mechanics, familiarity of Denver metro area streets and related highway systems. Rotate schedule. Works holidays/nights/weekends. Floats between departments/facilities/locations.

Salary Range: $27.00 - $30.30 Hourly
