The Radiology Technologist performs radiographic procedures per department protocol. Responsible for daily operations within the Imaging - General Radiology Department, including patient schedules, reporting equipment failures, and quality assessment.
***This is a Part Time position working at least 28 hours or more. This is a Float position you may float locations and work various shifts to help cover clinic and urgent care hours.***
Primary Responsibilities:
- Following physicians' orders, produces x-ray images per departmental protocol for the use in diagnosing medical problems.
- Greets, prepares correctly identified patient for examination, and explains specific procedures to be performed in appropriate confidential area.
- Accurately maintains patient's imaging records utilizing the radiology information system (R.I.S.) and PACS/Synapse application in accordance to HIPAA, and established SMA guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Processes radio logic cassette/digital images, examines for technical quality and diagnostic acceptability.
- Maintains radiology equipment, work area, and ensures adequate supplies are available.
- Prepares copies of images, preliminary reports, and contacts referring physician when required according to established procedures.
- Follows all safety standards and uses radiation protection when operating radio logic equipment.
- May also be assigned to other modalities provided incumbent is certified or licensed in those modalities.
- Will comply with annual mandatory Fit Testing as a job requirement.
Exposure to radiation, risk of exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues. Rotates within Radiology department to include satellite offices; reliable transportation is required. Flexible to work overtime and on call as needed. Will work some Holidays.
Positions in this function are responsible for overseeing and participating in day to day clinical care of patients. Employees are involved in direct patient care in a clinic or urgent care setting.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an approved AMA Radiologic Technology program required.
- Minimum one year experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred
- Current ARRT(R) certification required.
- Current CPR certification required.
- Knowledge of radiology positioning, procedures and diagnosis required.
- Must be willing to rotate some weekends and holidays.
- Must be flexible to float and work rotating shifts and various clinic and urgent care locations in the Las Vegas area.
Knowledge: Knowledge of radiology equipment, testing and safety hazards related to radiology required.
Skill: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required. Proven ability to effectively communicate technical procedures and results with patients and providers.
Basic computer skills required, RIS and PACS preferred. Skilled in properly positioning patients to provide quality imaging.
