Radiology Technologist – Urgent Care (Full Time

The Radiology Technologist performs appropriate radiographic procedures for medical diagnosis under the direction of the radiologist and in accordance with established department procedures. Practices established radiation protection standards. Performs a variety of technical procedures which may include CT scans that will require independent judgement with ingenuity and initiative.  In addition to performing the general duties of a Radiologic Technologist the MQSA Specialist is responsible to maintain compliance with the Mammography Quality Standards Act of 1992 (MQSA) by record keeping and reporting.  Builds and maintains effective working relationships with patients, physicians and all co-workers in a friendly and professional manner, promoting a positive image for Sutter North Medical Foundation.
 
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires constant walking and standing, some sitting, bending and stretching: Constant carrying of x-ray cassettes to and from darkroom: Pushing and pulling patients to position them for exams: Occasional lifting of patient with assistance on to x-ray table. Requires hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity and strength sufficient to operate x-ray equipment, keyboards, film copy machine, Film ID machine, Sunquest RIS system and other office equipment.
 
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a normal clinical outpatient radiology department environment.  Involves frequent contact with staff, patients, and the public.  Contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people.
 
This position requires a person who will dress and act in a professional manner at all times and in all circumstances.  The ability to communicate well is emphasized.

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
 
Education:
Associate's degree: from an accredited college Radiologic Technology training program at an AMA approved school. Certified by the State of California (CRT). Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or ARRT eligible. If performing CT must have advanced certification within first year of employment.  Current California CRT license required.  Current CPR certificate required.  Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) Desirable
 
Experience:
Clinical and practical experience during Radiology Technologist training program essential.
 
Knowledge:
Must have or develop an in depth knowledge of all equipment and applications. Must have thorough knowledge of radiation safety standards and practices.
 
Skills:
Ability to perform examinations of excellent technical quality, in an efficient manner. Ability to use initiative and ingenuity in the performance of procedures.  Must be thoughtful and considerate of patient's needs and be able to explain exams thoroughly. Skilled in operating a computer, copier, and identifying problems and recommending solutions.  Ability to work independently, effectively prioritize tasks, exercise initiative, judgment, and decision making, work effectively as team member, establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees and the public.
