Overview:

Rates trading team is a market leading franchise in interest rate derivatives markets. The clients are the biggest corporate houses, institutional money managers and hedge funds. The desk utilises its cutting edge trading and risk management platform to provide best value for its clients

The Counterparty Management (CPM) trading desk collects credit charge on uncollateralized deals and trades CDS to hedge against counterparty risk. The desk also offers clients structured commodity-contingent credit hedging solutions. The team is also involved in the development of bank-wide risk reporting infrastructure focusing on efficiently and accurately quantifying counterparty risk for the Global Rates and Commodities businesses.

Global Rates Financing (GRF) is the financing arm of Global Rates, which provides funding to corporate borrowers backed by collateral, which typically comprises of Rates Securities. These trades are bespoke structures developed to leverage the desk's Trading capabilities and at the same time offer effecient and cost-effective solution to clients worldwide. These trades are generally complex in nature and ranges from cross border financing to underwriting structured bonds which fall under the Rates risk parameters.

The hire will be an extension of both the CPM and GRF trading desks and requires a legal background.

Key Responsibilities:

* Key role: to vet all documentation on each live/ongoing trade (could be a large gamut of formats: ISDA Master, CDS docs, trade confos, loan docs with and without collateral, security and pledge docs in case of collateral, bond issuance prospectus and TC, insurance docs, islamic docs, risk part agreements, repo agreements etc).
* Review the docs from both a legal, but more importantly, a commercial and business point-of-view and suggest amendments and modifications.
* Ensure that the documentation a) reflects the commercial understanding of the trades and b) the bank is not giving away any provisos/flexibility under the documentation which might exacerbate the risks under the trade in future
* Working as part of the DB Counterparty Management ( CPM ) trading team and Rates financing team, liase with internal DB legal team and external counsels (in cases where the docs are being drafted by external law firms).

You will have:

The business is time critical and operationally intensive. We require an individual who is numerate, organised and with very good attention to detail.
* Strong Legal background in corporate law (English Law), with strong knowledge and work-experience in ISDA Master documentation, standard Credit Derivative 2003 documentation, Big Bang / Small Bang (these are pre-requisites).
* Good to have: Experience with other bespoke documentation structures such as standalone loans, deposits, insurance policies; Repo documentation under GMRA or ISDA; Security perfection docs such as pledge, guarantee, SBLC;
* Good derivatives knowledge essential
* Accounting background an advantage
