Job Title: - RD Chemical Engineer
Accountability: - Reports to the Director of New Technologies
Job Objective:
- Provide expertise in the area of chemical engineering in order to support the Company’s process research and development.
- Provide pilot plant design/management, system modeling and scale-up engineering.
- Provide engineering and start-up support for full scale industrial processes.
Essential Job Functions:
- Take initiative and responsibility for developing and piloting new RD projects.
- Work with Company personnel and licensees to create required process flow sheets, process and instrument diagrams, general arrangement, equipment layout, piping and instrumentation drawings.
- Calculate material and energy balances for process evaluation.
- Write research reports detailing research activities.
- Determine scale-up requirements/design for commercial systems.
- Prepares quotations for research projects and sale of technology.
- Travel to customer locations to start up and operate pilot equipment and to train clients in Company processes and travel to potential clients to support marketing requirements.
- Provide start up support for commercial projects.
- Support marketing activities by attending and presenting at trade shows, conferences, and other marketing events.
- Makes technical presentations.
- Provide pre-sales technical assistance and product education.
Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities
- Academic degree in chemical engineering (bachelor or greater).
- General industrial experience with chemical engineering unit processes.
- Pilot plant experience.
- Experience in the industrial application of absorption processes including ion exchange and chromatography.
- Experience and motivation to learn and use engineering software (examples, AspenTech modeling, project management software, AutoCad etc.).
