Our client successfully develops, produces, and markets innovative products based on its proprietary technologies employing advanced materials with applications in life and physical sciences. Its research and development process is highly multidisciplinary, drawing on teamwork from scientific experts in physics, chemistry, material science, biology and electrical engineering to create groundbreaking technologies.
We are currently recruiting for an experienced RD Engineer to join the Sensor Development team.

Job Summary
The RD Engineer will be one of the company’s leading inhouse resources in fluidics/sampling for the patented liquid crystal-based biological and chemical sensor technologies currently under development. He or she will be mainly responsible for generation of innovative ideas for gas sensor products, design and execution of research plans to demonstrate the proof-of-principle, and realization of these ideas in the form of successful grant applications.

Essential Job Functions
· Perform and lead applied laboratory research and development activities resulting in proof-of-concept and device prototypes.
· Generate innovative ideas directed toward new products; translate these ideas to successful grant applications.
· Work with a multidisciplinary team of scientists in the development of new sensor devices.
· Interact with academic and industrial partners and other scientific collaborators.
· Provide analytical and technical support to business initiatives such as new product development.
· Execute research plans for product development from concept design through product performance testing.
· Prepare presentations, reports, research proposals and IP submissions.

Minimum Requirements
· Ph. D. degree in engineering or applied science discipline with an emphasis on fluidics/sampling/mass transport.
· Strong written communication skills as demonstrated by peer reviewed publications and successful grant awards.
· At least 4 years of experience working in an industrial RD environment involving gas phase or liquid phase mass transport applications.
· Effective in working independently or in a team environment.
· Demonstrated ability to model mass transport process would be viewed as an advantage. 
· Experience in design packages such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks is preferable.
· Self-motivated individual with strong interpersonal communication skills.
· Strong project management skills.
