Role Purpose -
- Regional Project Leadership: To ensure development projects assigned to Lead Region NA are well scoped, managed and delivered to meet regional business strategies. Closely cooperate with Global project teams as appropriate.
- Regional Portfolio Reporting: To maintain a regional overview on a multi-project portfolio with a focus on reporting to business stakeholders to create competitive advantage, economic value and winning in the market place.
- Regional Ideas Management and Portfolio Selection: To ensure investments in regional development projects are profitable by championing processes that ensures selection and funding of innovative projects aligned with strategic investment and with business plans.
- Regional Project Governance: To promote and facilitate decision making that is fact-based; leads regional Project Teams to assemble complete, consistent and reliable information on regional projects in a form that serves review and governance bodies (Regulatory Science Committee, NA Development Committee, NA project teams, NA Business Teams) in assessing projects.
- Processes and Tools: To promote common standards, methodology, tools and ways of working aimed at managing and reducing complexity and increasing effectiveness, efficiency, operational innovation and excellence.

Accountabilities: -
- Project Management
- Direct management of assigned projects.
- Lead Project Teams for assigned projects. Organize and manage project meetings, communicate minutes, actions and secure adequate resources for projects aligned with business strategies. Establish and maintain project plans.
- Identify, document, and proactively manage development risks, issues and opportunities to ensure rigorous control of the development process (plan - do - review).
- Manage projects to deliver on time, budget and quality in cooperation with business and technical functions.
Portfolio Cycle
- Champion and drive the Ideas Management Process to ensure the flow of new development ideas to translate into project proposals at the Global and Regional level. Work closely and consistently with Regional Business Teams in supporting processes to ensure visibility, simplicity, review and consolidation.
- Champion and support the Portfolio Selection Process at the Regional level that ensures thorough technical and business project review and selection. Organize the portfolio and ensure stakeholder clarity on critical process, activities and dates in prioritization and project selection. Work closely and consistently with Regional Business and Product Teams in supporting processes to ensure visibility and simplicity to support and facilitate decision making.
- Support Global Product Portfolio in reporting requirements during the annual cycle.
- Provide training, support and use of consistent practices, processes and standards on an annual basis to Regional and country stakeholders.
Governance
- Conduct formal project reviews of progress at agreed stage gates in the Stage Plan, develop proper documentation for stage promotions, release to first sales and ensure Technical and Business review and approval by the NA Development Committee.
- Lead Launch Teams. Launch teams are multi-functional project teams comprised of supply chain, technology and projects, label/graphics, asset and functions charged with seamless transition from registration to first sales.
Tools
- Promote and support the effective use of SmartChoice in the NA Region as the standard tool for global portfolio and project management.
- Structure projects to allow meaningful business decisions, visibility of demand to functions, optimize cost synergies and project management efficiency.
- Ensure project and resource information pertaining to the projects is correct, up-to-date, regularly reported and high quality.
Ensure accessibility of short term collaborative documents (meeting minutes, agendas, actions) in SharePoint Team Spaces and long-term storage of key documents in SmartDoc.

Knowledge, Skills Experience:

Critical knowledge: - The position requires working experience in project/product life cycle management. General knowledge and a good understanding of the product development process is expected.
- Ability to conduct complex cost/benefit analyses with information from a variety of sources.
- Must be able to understand commercial fundamentals and strategies.

Critical Skills:
- Proficiency in results-focused leadership and project management
- Ability to manage large complex projects and portfolio.
- Degree in finance/business with training in Project Management
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
- Good understanding of business and development processes
- Good knowledge of IT and excellent computer skills

Critical Experience:
M.S, MBA or PhD degree preferred. PmP Certification is expected. Experience in RD development at country, regional or global level, with at least 5-8 years experience in industry.
- Working with management of the local, regional, and global business organization.
- Successful handling of conflicting pressures from different stakeholders.
- Work in an international and multidisciplinary team environment

- Ensure regional project information in SmartChoice is up-to-date, complete and meaningful for assigned portfolio.
