Rebate Accounting Specialist Job in 90670, California US

SUMMARY:  The Rebate Specialist is responsible for the financial accounting and program administration of rebate and discount programs.  This role is also responsible for managing reporting tools and packages to support the team.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Other duties may be assigned including the following:

 

·        Responsible for the validation, calculation and processing (issuing credit memos) of direct/indirect customer rebate obligations and discount program

·        Manage the timely and accurate processing of direct and indirect monthly/quarterly/annual volume incentives

·        Prepare, enter, and review journal entries related to discount and rebate programs

·        Prepare and analyze rebate and discount reserves and related account reconciliation; provide management with reporting and accounting for any reserve shortfalls from actual payments

·        Prepare and provide quarterly and annual Management Scorecard reports including payment trends

·        Facilitate meetings between Sales, marketing, Customer Service and Finance on any opportunities for process improvements and major accounts dispute resolution

·        Assist in the development of rebate and pricing policies and procedures and a training manual

·        Responsible for entry of pricing updates in BAAN (monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly).

·        Responsible for calculation of quarterly sales commissions

·        Performs analysis and reconciliation to ensure repayment of any disputed balances

·        Work directly with internal and external customers, Sales, Marketing, Customer Service and Collections at all levels of management

·        Special projects and ad hoc reporting

·        Follows quality system procedures

QUALIFICATIONS: 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

·        Demonstrated experience in accounting

·        Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Applications, especially Word and Excel

·        Microsoft Access experience preferred

·        Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·        Ability to effectively work in a team environment

 


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

 

·        3 to 5 years of rebate/discount/contract administration experience required

·        Manufacturing or distribution industry background preferred

·        Bachelor’s degree preferred

·        Knowledge of BAAN preferred
