Recently Qualified Accountant with Audit exp required for Product Control opportunity at UBS recruitment
Following an internal move within Finance, an Authorised Officer level vacancy has arisen within Flow Rates Product Control at UBS.
Product Control is the key Front Office facing group within Finance at UBS, being responsible for PL, Balance Sheet and valuation control in addition to partnering the business in new initiative/projects.
The Rates Flow Product Control team in London is part of the wider global Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities (FICC) Product Control organisation and has PC responsibility for the following product areas:
-EUR, GBP and Scandi interest rate swaps.
-Cross currency basis swaps and FX trading.
-EUR and GBP government bonds.
-EUR, GBP and USD inflation swaps and options.
-Structured inflation trades.
-Derivatives Credit Exposure Management (counterparty credit risk hedging)
The main elements of the role are to:
• Produce the daily PL for designated trader(s) on a T+1 basis.
• Reconcile the PL produced to the PL posted to the back office ledger.
• Review the PL amongst its various components.
• Write commentaries on large PL swings, explaining in terms of book risk positions and economic factors.
• Review the balance sheet daily and ensure funding attributed in the daily PL is explainable.
• Provide price/parameter verification.
• Interact with traders, operations staff, market risk, credit risk, IT, and also other Finance staff e.g. regulatory and global MIS reporting.
You will acquire a general on going awareness of external accounting standards and potential impact on business and traders. It is expected that you take internal exams and structured lecture room classes to bolster product knowledge. You will gain a gradual understanding of the front to back valuation and settlement process affecting the Rates product streams.
You must possess the following be considered for this opportunity:
• A University education in Mathematics/Economics/Sciences or similar logical subject.
• A recent formal accounting qualification with exposure to financial products through studies or work experience.
• An audit background.
• Proven experience and knowledge of MS Excel and preferably MS Access.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Confidence to be able to communicate effectively with potentially difficult clients within the trading businesses.
• An ability to communicate and escalate risks and issues effectively to management.
• The ability to work effectively within a team and quickly build strong relationships with colleagues.
• Logical and analytical thought to problem solving.
