RECOVERIES MANAGER recruitment
The successful individual will be responsible for assisting in the management of the Collections and Recoveries team who will work together to optimise systems, strategies and policies and to ensure Bad Debt at the company remains within budget.
Core Responsibilities:
- Ensure Recoveries strategies are appropriate, fit for purpose and cost effective - keeping Bad Debt to a minimum whilst ensuring the most appropriate treatment for our client’s customers.
- Optimise internal and external debt recovery strategies for our client.
- Lead debt sale activity
- Develop and maintain operational service levels and ensure these are consistently met or exceeded.
- Provide risk oversight across the Recoveries operation ensuring risks are being appropriately identified, managed and controlled in the 1st line.
- Ensure that Recoveries performance is benchmarked appropriately and that Bad Debt is kept within budget and to the low end of industry average.
- Support in leading the Collections and Recoveries function, including continual improvement of Collections and Recoveries strategies, systems, processes and performance.
- Monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of Recoveries activities through a comprehensive suite of MI, ensuring delivery of agreed performance to enable the business to meet its financial targets.
- Provide key Recoveries insights and recommend future recovery strategy changes at the companies Risk committee.
- Work closely with the Credit Risk team to ensure recoveries strategies and expected write off's support the bad debt forecast and provisioning methodologies
- Maintain excellent working relationships with key stakeholders in outsourced areas.
Ensure the principals of Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) and Conduct Risk are at the forefront of our Recoveries strategies.

- Able to use numeracy/analytical skills to undertake a range of calculations, preparation of data and more demanding management information
- Excellent people management skills with a proven track record for motivating and driving teams (including geographically disperse teams) forward to deliver result
- Well developed report writing and communication skills with the ability to interact at senior levels within the organisation
- Communication and persuasion skills with the ability to think quickly and package ideas and results in a logical, understandable and compelling way to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Core Requirements:
- Significant management experience in a relevant financial services environmen
- 3 to 5 years experience in Recoveries Management.
- Sound knowledge of financial environment with excellent analytical skills – highly numerate
- Clearly demonstrates a 'can-do' attitude which successfully overcomes barriers.
- Highly PC literate with a good working knowledge of all Microsoft applications (Word/Excel especially)
- Experience with SAS or SQL although not essential would be advantageous
- Proven ability to interpret management information for Executive reporting
- Where appropriate will have a good knowledge of the regulatory practices that impact on own work and/or the work of the section
- Good understanding of the commercial nature and risks associated with the services provided
