RECYCLED WATER FACILITY SUPERVISOR

Unit: Water Quality Division: Water Utility Operations and Maintenance Position Code: 0126 Job Code: FA8 Salary: Based on a seven-step salary plan. Salary will start at Step 1. Employers are required to make a pre-tax payroll deduction towards the CalPERS member and employer contributions. Employees hired in the 2.5% @ 55 formula will contribute 11%; employees hired in the 2.0% @ 60 formula will contribute 10%. Duties: To supervise, assign, review and participate in the work of staff assigned to the District's Advanced Recycled Water Treatment Facility (ARWTF); to organize work schedules, projects and training; to communicate and coordinate operations of the ARWTF with the operations staff of the City of San Jose's Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP); and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility. The ARWTF is an advanced treatment facility that utilizes micro-filtration, reverse osmosis, and ultra-violet light to treat waste water taken from the City of San Jose's WPCP to recycled water specifications. The Recycled Water Facility Supervisor shall act as the state-designated chief operator for the ARWTF. Typical Qualifications: Experience: Five (5) years experience performing work as an operator at a water treatment plant, waste water treatment plant or comparable advanced recycled water treatment facility. Three (3) of the five (5) years must have been working as a state-designated shift operator while holding a valid T3 water operator certificate or Grade 3 wastewater operator certificate. License or Certificate: Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license. Selected candidate will be required to successfully pass a medical examination. Possession of a valid Grade T4 Water Treatment Operator certificate issued by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). OR A Grade 4 Wastewater Operator certificate issued by the California State Water Resources Control Board may substitute for the Grade T4 Water Treatment Operator certificate. Regarding Out-of-State Reciprocity: The State of California only grants certification through reciprocity to operators who hold a valid water treatment certificate issued by another State for Grades 1-3.
