The Linux system administrator will perform all administration and maintenance tasks for approximately 200 Red Hat Enterprise Linux(RHEL) servers including planning, installing, configuring, maintaining, and monitoring. The Red Hat clustering suite (including GFS) will be maintained and operated. The administrator will allocate storage for operating systems and applications. The systems will be patched and maintained at the proper security benchmark level. Middleware software installations will be performed. Duties: - Perform system administration responsibilities for Red Hat Linux Servers. - Install, configure, and maintain operating system and system software. - Implement security controls on Red Hat Servers - Write and maintain scripts and Cron jobs - Install, configure, and maintain commercial off the shelf middleware products. Consultants hired into GBS Public Sector will typically be located in an IBM office or at an IBM client site primarily in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. In many cases, relocation to the Washington, DC area is required is not reimbursable. However, we do have opportunities that require residence in other strategic locations in the USA . While most projects are in the DC metro area, Consultants must be able to travel to projects that are in the DC Metro area and to those projects located outside the local area. Some projects do require up to 100% travel for an extended period of time that is generally Required High School Diploma/GED At least 2 years experience in performing system administration responsibilities for Red Hat Linux Servers RHEL 5 and RHEL 6. U.S. citizenship required English: Fluent Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology At least 2 years experience in configuring and administrating Red Hat Linux security and performing benchmark and security remediation At least 2 years experience in with blade server configuration and administration At least 2 years experience in with SAN Boot, Multi-path configuration, and SAN configuration, At least 2 years experience in in writing and maintaining scripts (e.g. kornshell or Perl) and cron jobs IBM is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
