Job Description
- Provide leadership and management oversight for the BAU Cash Payments Operations in APAC and proactively manage the regional Cash and Payments Operations agenda to ensure alignment with global objectives. Ensure that regional/in-country business requirements are fully understood and where necessary are prioritized across BAU processes, Risk Controls, Change, Business and Functional cash and payments operations. Must be able to support a fast changing, challenging and agile business environment whilst ensuring our BAU and risk controls framework is maintained.
- Act as the central point of contact for all Cash Payments related operational matters for the APAC region managing key Cash Payments related business product and sales stakeholders, GBM cash management , product specific Operations that require cash and payments services, AML operations, finance and IT. Must be able to proactively engage our business partners and translate their requirements into Operations execution and be seen as equal partners at their management table delivering a more product and client focused support model to the transaction banking business.
- Strong BAU capability in cash management, payments, systems and risk environments that allow one to interoperate a scalable and sustainable cash management and payments process and service. Must have 15 years or more relevant cash related operations experience, must be swift certified and be willing to re-teach the basics, instill a new rigor and discipline into this team to ensure it can support the basics of a transaction banking business. Cash counter experience a plus. Networking capability with the Cash and Payments Operations community in the region and in Singapore (i.e. ABS) is a plus.
- Strong risk and control, risk engagement, cash and payments risk basics background, willing to model the way and start over with an organization that has not had product leadership and direction for quite some time. A product adjusted risk and controls focus will need to be introduced, distilled and owned by the team. The delivery of consistent standards, processes and controls will need to be introduced and delivered as an outcome of a new hire into this role. This candidate needs to have the staying power to change a culture that has long taken risk and controls too lightly in the payments space.
- Provide people leadership and line management to the Regional Cash Payments Operations organization and develop key capabilities in the team. Ensures that the function is structured appropriately, staffed to match the strategic direction of the business and capacity is fit for purpose with sufficient buffer to respond to business needs. Alignment with the Global functional Cash Payments structures and a conduit for the formation of a Regional Cash and Payments matrixed organisation.
- Ability to lead transformation initiatives, to marshal business users to support the Regional Head of Change in driving process improvement, targeted payments and swift change, increasing efficiency and aligning the Operations Target Operating Model with developing a regional business model, supporting the strategic direction of the business.
Requirements
- More than 15 years experience in back office operations in Cash Management, Payments and Clearing.
- Proven track record of working with the business to advance the introduction and support of both local market and global/regional solutions to clients. Clear examples of how this partnership has supported revenue growth/ creation will be an advantage.

Responsibilities
- Ensure the smooth running of BAU activities for Cash Payments Operations across the 9 countries in APAC region.
- Establish a set of fit-for-purpose MI and KRIs to support Business growth, Risk Controls and other objectives of the business.
- Review of all NPAPs and product papers related to Cash Payments Products.
- Work closely with the Risk Manager to maintain and improve the operational risk environment.
- Improve Ops staff engagement through enhancing leadership, communication, decision-making, managing performance, talent management personal development.
- Drive process efficiency and maximizes service standardisation for Cash Payments Operations through the process improvement agenda.
- Ensure all proposed technology deliveries fit in with the overall Cash Payments Strategy and policy.
- Responsible for driving the regional strategy for Cash Payments Operations in alignment with global and business needs. Proactively identifying issues with systems and processes impacting operations; co-ordinating/ monitoring to ensure corrective actions.
- Implement and maintain a regional consistent Target Operating Model with all exceptions approved and documented.
- Deliver the regional support model for clients and make the necessary in-country adjustments.
- Create benchmarking framework to enhance operational excellence ensuring KPI's are in place, are reviewed and adjusted in line with business and Operation's needs
- Work closely with Product, Sales, Client Service and IT to enhance service delivery to meet and improve client satisfaction.
