Regional Head of SME Banking – Southern Africa recruitment

Job Description

To develop and deliver a strategy for SME Banking Value Centre.
To work, as part of the country top team, to support delivery of the country overall economic profit performance goal.
To achieve growth within business risk parameters.
To manage SME customer relationships through pro-active and consultative approach and detailed understanding of existing customers / business to enhance profit.
Acquire profitable new customers for the SME Banking business through the creation, development and maintenance of high quality advisory relationships, that includes effective consultative selling and creative structuring of financial solutions (within segmentation boundaries)
Key Roles Responsibilities
Strategic Management:
Drive an effective, strategy, business model and customer value proposition that focuses on building and deepening relationship with existing and new profitable customers.

Business Acquisition:
Small Businesses
Develop a credible and profitable set of products to attract and retain valuable customers.
Develop and implement effective approaches to new customer acquisition (either product/promotion focused or direct sales focused)

Medium Enterprises
Develop and foster strong relationship with medium enterprises
Aim at deepening the relationship via a strong and tailored product mix

Service Quality:
Drive to lead in customer satisfaction and loyalty through all channels.
Maintenance of customer information.
Derive strong business relationships

Operational Risk Management:
Ensure operational risks are controlled and managed at all times.
Ensure compliance to local and Group operational guidelines.
Oversee effective corrective and preventive actions are taken against Internal Control/ Audit reports on all channels.

Compliance:
Ensure the business meets its obligation on the prevention of money laundering under the group policy and standards and under local laws and regulations.
Ensure there are appropriate internal controls and procedures in place and documented. Monitor the operation of such procedures and controls and regularly review them to ensure they reflect any changes in products, systems, policy or regulations.

Channel Productivity:
Drive productivity improvement and other key performance ratios.
Constant review of work processes, systems through process re-engineering.
Migrate best practices across the channel network.
Ensure an efficient, customer friendly approach to handling customer transactions and queries in SME Banking
Achieve a balance between risk vs reward by:
Enforcing high underwriting standards
Active management of credit risks
Proactive collection effort

Channel Development / Integration:
Develop and manage effective business channels equip RMs to provide one-stop business solutions

People Management / Leadership:
Manage a motivated and focused value centre team, consistently delivering:
Creative, precise and customer-focused product management
High quality sales and service that reflects the needs of the customer

Cost Management:
Formulate strategy to manage costs and achieve ratios, manage closely all controllable costs and monitor effectiveness of agreed action plans.
Work towards achieving cost benefits of centralization through economies of scale, process re-engineering, automation and exploitation of IT systems.

Promotion of Bank Image:
Enhance corporate image of SCB.
Implementation of sales and merchandising program.
Participation in local promotions and community activities.
Qualifications Skills
This role requires a complex range of management and leadership skills
A strategic thinker and leader, capable of taking bold entrepreneurial steps to transform the way the industry delivers financials services to businesses.
Proven track record in business goal management.
University Graduate with at least 10 years managerial experience in commercial/consumer financial services.
In-depth knowledge of products, services and delivery channels available to small-medium companies.
Well-informed of the market competitive structure, industry practices and regulations for business banking with at least 10 years experience in local environment.
Hands on exposure of the SME business opportunities in the local market
Should be able to understand the SCB Group SME business model and tailor it to the local business environment
At least 10 years knowledge and experience in business credit and trade services.
Strong analytical, problem solving, decision-making and financial management skills.
Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, internally and externally
A self-driven individual with well-developed leadership, motivational and team-building skills.
Ability to identify need for change, adaptable and flexible in anticipating and realizing market opportunities.
