Regional Head of Trustee Services, Director HK recruitment

You will be responsible for the entire fiduciary and trustee business in Asia for a Global Custodian Bank initially taking care of Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia although this function is expected to manage 5 locations as business develops. By working closely with the relevant trustee teams in each location and offshore domiciles you will develop trustee solutions for all types of investment funds from active to passive strategies  including other common alternative funds. You will also be responsible for performing due diligence on Fund compliance operations in each location to ensure that it is in line with their respective regulations in each country. It is therefore essential that this person is someone strong enough to manage relationships with regulators in Asia. Prior experience in such a role i.e. a legal counsel role at a fund management company would be ideal or compliance or risk role in funds would also work well.

You will also be responsible for reviewing product documentation when a new client is on boarded for example reviewing custody agreements, fund admin agreements, trust deeds etc. By setting up KPIs monitoring systems you will also have to review sales pipelines and profits etc.

Since managing risk and solving problems is a key component to this role you have to be someone extremely business savvy, someone who can see problems well in advance before they occur and be able to create effective solutions often thinking outside the box. For example you will identify any fiduciary business risks and report to board and senior management. You will be expected to provide fiduciary / trustee expertise on product development scenarios. You will have to train local teams and other internal teams within the region.

In order to be successful in this role you need to have a strong regulatory, legal, risk or compliance background with an in depth understanding of investment funds and securities markets/custody. This role requires management of cross functional teams across a complex matrix and ability to create strong working relationships cross the organisation. You should also be someone who can present well to both internal and external clients. It is expected that this person has about 10 years experience or more.
