Job Description:

 

Business Wire, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fortune 13 Berkshire Hathaway Corp., seeks a competitive, proven B2B Regional Manager responsible for the overall accomplishment of office revenue goals as well as day-to-day functions of all reporting sales, operations and support staff.

 

The Regional Manager will manage the local sales team in selling news distribution and internet services to public companies and PR and IR firms throughout the office's territory.

 

The ideal candidates will possess a strong background in direct outside sales (5+ yrs) essential, with management experience (2+ yrs). Financial Info services or New Media or relevant experience preferred.  Additionally, the ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate a successful history of sales management and quota achievement employing traditional sales strategies and techniques.

 

Job functions include, but are not limited to:

 

• Meet and exceed revenue sales targets, product sales quotas and appointment goals as set by company and regional VP. (ideally 75% direct selling)

• Devise and execute effective sales strategies to ensure continuous revenue growth

• Land, maintain and up-sell top-tier, high-volume accounts

• Maintain and foster relationship with “high level” contacts with top clients and prospects

• Possess and maintain thorough knowledge of the industry, our products and services, as well as those of our competitors

• Maintain involvement in Business Wire sponsored conferences, seminars, and other promotional events

• Attend tradeshows to network among exhibitors

• Participate in regular office sales meetings and annual travel to a company-wide sales meeting

• Travel to different areas of the state or region when necessary

• Assist Regional Vice President with quarterly conferences and other special projects

• Manage the efforts of other sales staff to ensure consistent new business development in each sales territory

• Oversee office staff involvement with professional organizations (NIRI, PRSA, Publicity Club, etc.) to ensure a high level of visibility of the Business Wire brand

• Ensure ongoing training for sales staff

• Monitor competitors in the marketplace to ensure Business Wire maintains market share growth and competitive advantages

• Act as principal liaison between sales staff and senior management

• Work with the Regional Vice President to hire and train sales staff

• Contribute to performance evaluations for all sales staff

• Work directly with Newsroom Supervisors and other Operations managers to ensure the efficient function of newsrooms within the Regional Managers' jurisdiction.

• Serve as principal liaison with Call Center, Collections, Facilities, and Legal Administration staff to ensure consistent compliance with Business Wire policies and business practices

 

Qualifications Required for this Position:

 

• 5 or more years outside sales experience (w/ 2+ as Sales Manager)

• Ability to work independently

• Superior written and verbal communication skills

• Superior presentation skills

• Excellent organizational and planning skills

• Superior management skills

• Ability to function well under pressure

• Excellent telephone manner and new business development skills

• Must have a reliable automobile, a valid drivers license, and automobile insurance coverage as required by Business Wire, and be able to travel

• Technical skills and computer literacy; proficiency in standard business applications (i.e., MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ACT, Web, etc.)

• Professional appearance and demeanor

• Ability to work effectively with a variety of people in a team environment

• Demonstration of reliability through good attendance and punctuality

 

Bachelors degree preferred.
