We currently have an opening for a Regional Mechanic. Qualified candidates must have the ability to travel continuously inside or outside of New England and Northern regions.  ASME Certified Welder required.
  

I. Summary: 
 
Welds extensively on weekly basis.  Repairs and maintains plant machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and energy plant machines and equipment using skills, knowledge, and applications from welding, lubrication, pipe-fitting, millwright, machinist, and mechanical work.  Prioritizes and plans work assignments to meet critical work schedules.
 
II. Essential Functions:
 
1.      Extensive time welding on daily and weekly basis.
2.      Repairs and maintains machines and plant mechanical equipment using skills, knowledge, understanding and applications from welding and lubrication, pipefitting, millwright, machinist and mechanical skills.
3.      Identifies and repairs mechanical malfunctions; installs new or replacement equipment, responds to call-in emergencies; and supports outage work activities at other facilities using understanding and applications from welding and lubrication, pipe-fitting, millwright, machinist and mechanical skills.
4.      Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.  Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections, inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, and adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
5.      Installs special functional and structural parts in devices, lubricates and cleans parts, and starts devices to test their performance.
6.      Sets up and operates, tube removal and preparation equipment, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
7.      Initiates purchase order for parts and machines.
8.      Performs all duties using approved safety procedures, rules and standards.
9.      Works rotating shifts and extensive overtime, especially during outages.
10.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
11.  Performs other duties as assigned.   
 

 

 
Education/Experience:
 
·     Experience in combination of welding, pipefitting, millwright, mechanic, and machinist work.  ASME Certified Welder.
·     Displays thorough knowledge of repairing sootblowers, boilers, A-line equipment, fluid transfer pumping system, automated control valves, turbines, cranes etc.   
·     Must be able to direct, lead, and guide others in order to complete assigned tasks. Ability to travel inside or outside of New England and Northern regions, continuously. 
·     Work rotating shifts, as needed, and extensive overtime hours.
 
Certificates and Licenses:
 
·     ASME certified welder.
·     Qualified in at least one of the two following categories: machining tasks using shop lathe and milling machine, or working knowledge of TIG and MIG welding and SMAW welding procedures and have passed certification test for welding on pressure vessels.
·     Skills and experience to conduct acceptance and performance tests on new equipment.
