Regional Nurse Education Consultant

The Regional Nurse Educator is accountable to the Director of Ambulatory Nursing for leading directing the educational professional development of nursing unlicensed support staff to prepare them for new models of care delivery acquiring the knowledge skills so that they can competently deliver core nursing services (i.e., advice, provision of preventative therapeutic therapies/treatments, care coordination /or case management) to proficiently support the clinicians in managing their practice. The Regional Nurse Educator is also a consultant to service area/dept. specific nurse educators, operational leaders, labor leaders lead clinicians to assess educational needs evaluate the effectiveness of the educational programs in promoting the delivery of quality ambulatory care, enhancing the work environment advancing nursing practice. S/he is expected to take the lead in his/her area of clinical expertise (e.g., Adult Medicine, Pediatrics, Case Management, Care Coordination, etc.) in identifying, planning implementing training programs curriculums using an evidence-based approach to promote the ability of staff in delivering high quality, patient centered cost effective health care. Essential Functions: Analyzes regional educational needs priorities to include key operational care delivery leaders, lead clinicians, service area/dept. specific nurse educators appropriate front line staff. Specific activities include identification of performance gaps in maintaining standards, work environment factors, standard performance evaluation criteria/processes effective training strategies to impact maintain performance outcomes. Delegates, in collaboration with operational care delivery leaders delivery of regional trainings to service area/dept. specific nurse educators or trainers when requested or needed at the local/dept. specific area level.Supervises RN trainers, if any, in the delivery of regional training programs. Acts as a role model for professional nursing practice upholding the KP Nursing vision strategy. Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: - 1 year of management experience. - 2 years of education experience. - 3 years of clinical experience in acute care, ambulatory care, or case management/population health care services within the last 5 years. - Bachelor's degree in nursing or health care. - High school diploma or GED. - Current license as Registered Nurse in Oregon and Washington. Required OR or WA License at time of hire. Licenses in both states are required within 6 months of hire. - Knowledge of professional nursing principles, practices, concepts and procedures as applied to the care of patients in different settings. - Clinical expertise in a nursing field (e.g., pediatrics, adult medicine, case management, care coordination, medical or surgical specialty). - Knowledge of current regulations and requirements. - Knowledge of adult learning theory and development. - Facilitating work groups. - Demonstrated experience in curriculum design, development and delivery. - Demonstrated experience in quality management principles. - Working knowledge of computer software programs, desktop publishing and audio-visual equipment and materials. - Effective group process and team building skills. - Demonstrated skills in didactic presentations, clinical skills assessment methodology and project management. - Strong customer focused skills. - Strong interpersonal skills and ability for conflict resolution. - Strong oral and written skills. Preferred Qualifications: - 3 years of management experience. - 5 years of teaching experience. - 5 years of recent clinical experience in acute care, ambulatory care, or case management/population health care services. - Master's degree in nursing, education or human resource development. - Certification in nursing field of expertise (e.g., Pediatrics, Case Management, Adult Medicine, etc.). - Health care functions and services-experience working in a medical/surgical/procedural or case management/care coordination orientedservice in either outpatient or inpatient setting. - Thorough knowledge of state of the art audio visual and related instructional equipment. - Thorough knowledge of computer skills in word processing, database management, spreadsheet, and desktop publishing. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
