Description of Position
- Manage local supplier base in west region on daily basis to support business operations with focus on single transaction spend above $2,000
- Participate in formulating sourcing strategy and supplier development
- Participate as procurement and supply chain lead in new project bidding and new product development process from the very beginning to deliver savings
Qualification
- Have a strong understanding of modular building industry both Traditional Custom Modular business (would be very helpful to have worked for a modular factory)
- Have a construction background understand the importance of codes and compliance with different government agencies
- Have a purchasing estimating background
- Have an understanding of what type of vendors, suppliers, factory’s would be key to growing the business throughout the west
- Result-oriented and performance driven
- Good leadership skills
- Strong negotiating and analytical skills
- Good team player and skillful communicator
- Work under least supervision
- Strong ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple projects
- Ability to work in operational / functional matrix organization and global business environment
- College degreed
- Willing to travel up to 30% of work time
Major Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance of all procurement policies and processes; recommend policy and process changes for consideration
- Execute strategies developed and contracts / deals negotiated by central procurement with national accounts
- Manage daily local supplier base including local subsidiaries of National Accounts in terms of cost, quality, delivery and service
- Approve all PO’s for west region based upon a set dollar threshold for selected spend categories
- Led price / contract negotiations with local suppliers with support from central procurement organization
- Participate in formulating strategic initiatives on behalf of west region
- Achieve budgeted annual net savings target set (Opex, Capex) by focusing on local suppliers with big spend (new units, materials and DS)
- Set priorities to optimize local supplier base to maintain competition and achieve volume leverage across USA
- Support ad hoc projects assigned by west region and central procurement organization
- Support in used units transfers from US to Mexico
