SUMMARY

Reports directly to the Safety and Loss Control Manager and is part of a team of Regional Safety and Loss Control Managers located in various regions across the United States.  While promoting job safety and injury management this position will work closely with operations, client service, underwriting and workers’ compensation departments.  The goal of the Regional Safety and Loss Control manager is to assist each client in the design and implementation of an effective safety program to help prevent on-the-job injuries.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

§         Advise clients on compliance with applicable codes, laws, regulations, or standards.

§         Collaborate with client safety manager to provide insight, experience, and assistance in developing safety programs.

§         Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.

§         Assess safety needs across locations to ensure client’s proper deployment of loss prevention resources.

§         Evaluate adequacy of actions taken to correct inspection violations.

§         Perform jobsite visits and investigations of on-the-job injuries.

§         Professionally represent Employers Resource by treating others with dignity and respect.

§         Write concise and detailed technical reports.

§         As requested by client, conduct safety training and education programs.

§         Develop and communicate health and safety orientations and communicate with clients, their employees and co-workers.

 

 

Travel Requirements

Clients are located throughout the state of California, requiring the Regional Safety and Loss Control Manager to be out of town approximately 25% of the time.  Normal duration for remote client visits is 5 working days (4 nights) at a time in order to obtain maximum return on travel expenses. Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and auto liability insurance.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

General

§         Extensive knowledge of all applicable OSHA and Cal OSHA regulatory rules and requirements.

§         Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and group, and the measurement of training effects.

§         Understanding of customer service principles including needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

§         Command of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

§         Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

§         Excellent detail and organizational skills.

 

Education and/or Experience

§         5+ years work experience managing individual multi-client safety programs, compliance with Cal OSHA, accident investigations, safety audits, employee safety training and customer relations OR degree with emphasis in industrial psychology, employee safety and health, or technical writing.

§         Current professional designation as a Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, or Field Safety Representative.

 

Physical Demands

·         Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard.

·         Ability to sit for extended periods of time.

·         Ability to lift and carry up to twenty pounds.

·         Ability to see for purposes of reading printed material.

·         Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels.

·         Ability to speak so others will be able to clearly understand a normal conversation, both in person and over the telephone.
