Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced Compliance Leader to join our APAC business in Sydney.
Reporting to the Global VP of Compliance (based in the UK), this position is responsible for all AML/CTF compliance and regulatory matters related to the Asia pacific (APAC) region for Western Union Business Solutions. The key focus in this role is to implement risk-based compliance initiatives to develop and enhance the compliance and regulatory programs in the APAC region, integrating compliance functions, systems, policies, and procedures.
Other responsibilities will include:
- The development and implementation of compliance initiatives as well as an ability to synthesize and implement global compliance requirements and initiatives
- Develop and manage internal relationships with both Western Union Business Solutions and the broader Western Union Company
- Develop global strategies and maintaining and developing key external regulatory relationships across APAC region
- Define, initiate, and approve business unit, corporate or operational strategies where decisions or recommendations drive achievement of critical function or business unit objectives and goals
Qualifications, Skills Knowledge
The ideal candidate will have at least 10 – 15 years of relevant experience in complex financial services/payment services organizations with multiple financial products, or in a regulatory agency or law firm specializing in payment services compliance issues, with at least 5 years’ experience in leading and managing geographically dispersed teams. You will have strong conceptual and planning skills, advanced compliance expertise, and the ability to manage in a highly diversified, changing environment enforcing shared responsibility for outcomes. The selected candidate must possess strong leadership and people management skills and have the ability to work with senior leadership internally and externally and lead teams with staff at all levels. In addition, the incumbent will make financial decisions and retain fiscal responsibility.
