REGIONAL WIRE AND CABLE SPECIALIST

JOB SUMMARY AND MISSION

Calvert Wire and Cable, a subsidiary of WESCO Distribution, is seeking a Regional Wire  Cable Specialist to be responsible for selling products, services and solutions to customers within an assigned region.  This position requires strong selling, planning and relationship-building skills, along with the ability to work remotely.  In addition, the proper candidate must have a demonstrated knowledge of the wire and cable industry, including competition, customer types and vendors, and an understanding of basic business fundamentals to help prepare sales, profit and forecasting plans.

SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

•  Manage sales, profit and expense budget plans
•  Develop and implement annual sales/action plans in conjunction with local branch management that focus on identified target accounts, sales goals and call activities that will assist in the attainment of assigned sales goals
•  Identify and execute sales goals and strategies for 5-10 direct accounts
•  Present products, services and solutions to current and potential customers, including a combination of WESCO branches, end-users and contractors
•  Identify new customer opportunities through prospecting and lead referral will 100% follow-up
•  Identify a customer’s business needs and recommend products or solutions
•  Prepare presentations, proposals and sales contracts
•  Establish and maintain current and potential customer relationships and work closely with strategic wire and cable suppliers
•  Identify and resolve customer concerns through effective sales follow-up and ongoing support
•  Prepare a variety of status reports, including call activity, closings, follow-up, and adherence to goals
•  Maintain and manage an active sales/project pipeline to assist in forecasting and budget attainment
•  Communicate new product and service opportunities, competitive information, or other feedback gathered through field activity to appropriate company and customer personnel
•  Develop and implement special sales activities to promote sales and help reduce excess stock as necessary

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

•  Strong knowledge of wire and cable and its relevance to the assigned geography, including but not limited to competitors and suppliers
•  Strong initiative and ability to work independently and as a self-starter
•  Track record of success in business-to-business sales
•  Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to persuade and influence others
•  Ability to develop and deliver sales plans, performance tracking and sales presentations
•  Adequate computer skills that include a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) along with the ability to learn new skills
•  Ability to maintain a professional appearance and provide a positive company image to the public
•  Willingness to travel to current and potential customers (this requires the possession of a valid state driver’s license within 60 days of employment)

EXPERIENCE

•  Minimum of 3-5 years experience in outside sales in the industrial wire and cable industry, preferably with a distributor
 
EDUCATION 

•  Bachelor's Degree is preferred, but suitable work experience can be substituted
