Description:
- Assesses plans and evaluates patient care needs.
- Carries out physician orders.
- Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, monitors vital signs.
- Serves as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well coordinated patient care.
- Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
- Instructs and educates patients and families.
- Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
- Provides age and culturally appropriate care.
- Orients and mentors new staff members.
- Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Qualifications:
Eligibility: Candidates must meet all requirements of applicable job description, including competency testing. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years clinical experience with no less than 1 year in the area for which they are contracted to work.
Employee Classification: Employess will be classified as temporary employees and will receive no benefits other than those defined by Federal or State law.
Program Duration: Doctors Hospital of Sarasota Seasonal Staffing Program offers assignments for an 11week seasonal period (January 9 through March 24). Employees are eligible to apply for available openings at the end of the specified employment agreement.
Scheduling Options: Three 12-hour shifts (36 hours/week; 72 hours per pay period) including every other weekend.
Contracts available: PCU, ICU, ED, Ortho/Oncology, Med/Surg
Other Conditions:
Current licensure as an RN.
Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider; ACLS dependent on contracted position.
Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.
Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.
Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds.
