Implements and follows all quality assurance policies and procedures. Provides and ensures knowledge in the area of food labeling regulations as it relates to reviewing and approving branded labels for nutritional, health/function claims, and regulatory labeling requirements. Provide materials to other staff on packaging, nutritional information, regulatory information, etc… Documents all required information in written and/or database formats. Reviews and organizes all quality assurance record keeping activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Create, review and approve packaging/label artwork for nutritional and regulatory compliance requirements such as font size, text placement, proper product name, claims, Principal Display Panel, Information Panel, etc.
· Must be knowledgeable in USDA and FDA labeling regulations.
· Communicates with Orion personnel from various departments regarding labeling compliance.
· Keep current with regulatory changes that may affect labeling laws for the food industry.
· Be a technical source to other staff and departments as items relate to nutritional and regulatory labeling of packaging.
· Demonstrate high organizational skills and excellence in planning, execution and tight timelines through project evaluation and use of resources available.
· Provide and create nutrition facts panels, ingredient statements, net weight statements, UPC’s, etc for new product development.
· Pay close attention to detail.
· Maintains all files with accuracy along with peripheral equipment and software.
· Assists with all clerical aspects of the quality assurance department.
· Assists Quality Assurance Manager with special projects.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Ability to read English and interpret documents. Ability to write, in English, routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak English effectively before employees of the organization.
· Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
· The employee may occasionally lift/or move up to 50 pounds.
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; and vibration.
· The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
