The Global Compliance Group (GCG) is responsible for compliance matters and for interacting with regulators regarding compliance matters globally.  GCG seeks a team member who will be based in New York who will be responsible for regulatory compliance matters in the Americas.  This role will involve maintaining a detailed knowledge of credit rating agency regulations and related Fitch policies; assisting Fitch employees with policy interpretation, maintaining necessary licenses and regulatory filings; assisting with examinations; serving as the primary contact for regulators in Mexico and representing GCG in global compliance monitoring and initiatives. 

 

Reporting to the Regulatory Compliance Managing Director - Americas who is based in New York, a key aspect of this role will be maintaining a detailed understanding of credit rating agency regulations and providing regulatory compliance guidance. This will include engaging with business partners regarding policy interpretation, facilitating interactions with regulators, managing responses to regulatory requests for information, and managing regulatory filings. Related to this, the position will be responsible for assisting with maintaining a database to capture evolving regulations and with monitoring compliance with policies, including assisting with email reviews and other employee surveillance, performing internal reviews, liaising with Fitch staff regarding procedure development or update to include relevant credit rating agency regulations, and supporting GCG's employee training efforts, particularly in Latin America. Finally, this position will serve as a liaison to other Latin American offices where ratings are not endorsed by Fitch for purposes of European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) regulations (including Chile, Colombia and Central America) to share knowledge/experience gained from regions directly supported by GCG. To accomplish these responsibilities, the candidate will need to learn about, and understand, all aspects of Fitch's business. 

Requirements include the following.

·         Bachelor's degree and minimum of 7years of experience in an agency, compliance, regulatory or audit function.

·         Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast moving, evolving environment.

·         Client service focus with proven ability to develop relationships with business partners.

·         High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

·         High degree of professionalism and integrity with demonstrated ability to handle confidential issues with maturity, tact and sensitivity.

·         Strong verbal and written communication skills.

·         Strong computer skills, including Excel for analysis.

·         Fluency in Spanish and English are required.

·         25% estimated required travel to Mexico/LatAm.

·         Risk based approach to problem solving with demonstrated good judgment.

·         Broker-dealer examination experience is a plus.
