Regulatory Controller – Capital Production Market Risk Manager recruitment
London Regulatory Controllers are responsible for ensuring that Morgan Stanley maintains adequate capital resources to meet the firm’s investment business commitments and to withstand the risks to which the business is subject, that is Market Risk and Counterparty Risk. Regulatory Controllers form part of the wider Financial Control Group.
Regulatory controllers duties include:
- Monitoring regulatory compliance in accordance with Basel 1 and Basel 2 for FSA regulated entities
- Reporting accurate and timely capital usage information to the CFO group and externally the FSA
- Compliance with the ever-evolving Regulatory landscape, including Basel 3 and COREP.
- Facilitating capital efficiency by working with the business and regulators on approvals, appropriate structuring of new trades and continual elevation of capital usage.
The current vacancy is for a Manager level employee in the monthly capital calculation team. The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include the following:
- Perform monthly processing related to the creation of capital charges related to market risk capital calculations, and potentially coverage of counterparty and credit risk calculations.
- Oversight and management of aspects of the capital monthly team, specifically related to market risk in the immediate term.
- Review of Market risk capital calculations on a monthly/quarterly basis produced by team for submission into the FSA Capital regulatory returns.
- Presentation of data to senior management.
- People management and ongoing development of more junior members of staff.
Skills Required
- FSA Regulatory reporting experience (Capital Adequacy, Market Risk including FSA005 and VaR Quarterly).
- Proven ability to perform adhoc analysis on datasets, draw themes key issues and communicate findings.
- Strong Capital experience related to market risk.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of the regulatory environment.
- Attention to detail and time management are essential skills for this role. In addition the candidate should have the flexibility required to work in a dynamic environment under tight deadlines.
- Comfortable in a changing environment.
Skills Desired
- Prior experience working in a similar role desirable.
- Strong Capital Calculation experience for market risk, including understanding of standardised and modeled charges. More than one product/ calculation type is preferred.
- Understanding of trading book securitisations and reporting requirements
- Understanding of banking book and trading book capital approaches.
- Understanding of credit and counterparty risk.
- People management experience.
- Technical knowledge of the FSA BIPRU Rule book.
- Qualified/ part-qualified accountant.
